Each OTA is CNC machined to the highest tolerances and is computer optimizing for lightweight operation with structural rigidity. The primary mirror support system, secondary mirror support system, spider as well as internal baffles, front & rear rings and all small parts are fully CNC machined from aluminum, stainless steel or brass. DESIGN The primary mirror support cell has absolutely no mirror-shift or mirror-flop. The fixed primary mirror also has axial and radial support and the unused outer portion of the primary mirror is masked. The primary mirror support and rear assembly are designed to provide excellent ventilation and removal of internal residual heat. Air circulation is accomplished via three axial fans. Included is an external on/off and speed control for the fans. Three adjustable rear assembly openings provide thermal convention adjustments to the primary mirror. Three point collimation of the primary mirror, each can be locked into place once collimation is achieved. Fine adjustment settings for focal plan perpendicular on optical axis. Computer optimized ray traced baffles on primary and secondary mirrors. Typical settings are +/-10 mm (+/- 70 mm of back focus length) to allow the user to achieve the for highest optical performance. Fine adjustment for secondary spider centering. Very thin yet strong four vane spider support. Simplified three point secondary mirror and primary mirror collimation. The light path is fully baffled and coated with a very high quality opaque paint to provide the highest degree of protection from stray light.
