This is the biggest mistake everyone makes. “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” Mark Twain The biggest mistake that everybody makes is that they just don't get started. Selling custom Gi's or wholesale Gi's in your academy is a great way to earn extra money and to help your school grow. I even have one client who has told me his Gi and uniform sales pay his entire rent on his school. All of his students are just profit for him. He loves it. Takes a lot of the stress off him. You just have to get it going and order some Gis for your school. We can start you with as few as 4 Gi's and still get you low wholesale prices. Start small if that is what you are comfortable with. Go ahead and figure out how many you can comfortably afford and Give us a call and we will get you going on your order, right away. Call Us 714-594-9121 If you have a bigger school take a look around and see how many of your students need new Gi's. Ask your students if they need new Gis. Most students, especially new students struggle with getting new Gis. People come in our OTM stores bamboozled by size charts and they are so relieved to try on different sizes. Your students will appreciate being able to try on Gis to OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 2 make sure they get a good fit. You can start at any level. This is what we suggest is a good start depending on the size of your school. Here Is A Good Place To Start: • 25 Students – Ask each of your students and take preorders. • 50 Students – 12 Gis • 75 Students – 20 Gis • 100 Students – 30 Gis These estimates are for your existing students only, if your are building your school and signing up new students you will want to stock Gis for them too. As a client of ours we include Free Gi Patches with your Gi's, which Gives you even more profit on each Gi sale. We Give you 3 FREE Full Color Patches with each Gi with your first wholesale BJJ Gi purchase. These are three patches in one and have a $20.00 Retail Value ($10 Big Patch & $5 for the two small patches) and you got them for Free. Added Profit for you. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 3 Mistake #2 – Trusting the Wacky Pakistani Spam Emails. One Of The Most Costly Mistakes! "There's a scam for everyone, and that means everyone is a potential victim. Everything about the Internet makes it perfect for criminals bent on perpetrating a scam." Susan Grant One of the most dangerous mistakes that I see people making, and probably the most frequent mistake that people make is trusting those crazy Pakistani emails that you get. You know the ones that come to you that say “Dear Kind Sir, We are long and established manufacturer of Jiu Jitsu Gi's, MMA gloves, shin guards...” And, they always offer a price that just seems unbelievably too good and usually it is because it is too good. Sometimes these emails might actually be coming from real factories, but usually they are coming from what’s called a trade agent, or just some guy that happens to be able to type in English really well, OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 4 working at an Internet Cafe. What is a Trade Agent? This is a middle man. Someone that will go out and find all different factories in their area and then they will solicit business and subcontract it out to the factories. The reason you would not want to work with this person, especially in Pakistan, is because you will get no consistency in the products you get back from them. You want to make sure you are working directly with someone you can trust. Hopefully the owner of a factory. (BTW Owners don’t sit around and email people all day.) See my $40k Rip Off Email For Details & Tips. Agents will always work with which ever factory gives them the best price. Not the best quality. So your first order might come great and the second might be completely different. You will find yourself shaking your head wondering how it could be so different one order to the next? It’s because two different factories manufactured the orders. Likely the second factory never even saw your first order. Sometimes they will buy up left up fabric from other people’s Gi orders. So consistency is really a problem with Trade Agents. Who you going to call? You can’t pick up the phone and call your agent in Pakistan if there is any kind of problem, so it can easily be come a huge problem. I’ve had emails go ignored and skype messages too. This can be incredibly frustrating when you are trying to get your order straight. The person on the other side of that email or skpye call might just be some person sitting at an Internet cafe that speaks English well or can type up an email. These people are actually subcontracting your project out the cheapest place they can find. Or, way worse they could be a straight up scam. How you going to get your money back after you wire it to Pakistan? YOU CAN’T! I know from personal experience. Be careful! You might think you are saving money and you end up losing all your money. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 5 Mistake #3 – Not Keeping Track Of Inventory. You Can’t Sell What You Don’t Have. "I assure you we would have more sales if we had more inventory." Mike Skahen A lot of people make mistakes with inventory. They don't know how much they should keep in stock? Or, if they should even keep any in stock. Of course, the answer to that is you always want to have Gis in stock. If you have people coming in to sign up at your gym, then you want to be able to sell them your Gis. If you can sell them a Gi on the spot then they can get on the mat right away and start training. If you have a student whose Gi rips, you want to be able to sell them a new Gi. Remember, it is important to keep your students on the mat and training because that's what keeps your school afloat. So without Gi's, people can't train. It is important to always have a good stock of Gi's. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 6 TIP: Gis always sell faster than school owners think they will. Everyone always under orders on their first wholesale Gi order. Especially with custom Gis. A cool looking custom Gi will fly off the shelves. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 7 Mistake #4 – Not Ordering The Correct Sizing. There Is No Such Thing As One Size Fits All Kimonos “One size defiantly does not fit all.” Matt Anderson Ordering the proper sizing is always a big concern for people especially when it is your first time ordering. The majority of students in your school is going to be an A2 or A3. These are the most common Gi sizes everywhere. After that you can just look around and see how many smaller guys and bigger guys you have. Take the percentage of how many guys that you have, for instance, if you have ten students with two big guys, one small guy, you're probably going to order a couple more big Gi's than you are the smaller Gi's. We are happy to help with Gi sizing for your particular needs. And if you ever get it wrong we will always exchange it for you. In seventeen years of the BJJ Gi industry and selling products, we can give you a good idea really quick just from some simple information about your school on what quantities & sizes you need to order. We can do this all for you, it’s easy. Just Give us a call. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 8 Mistake #5 – Thinking You Can’t Sell Gis In Your School. People Love Convenience Make It Easy For Them. “It isn’t hard to sell hamburgers to a starving crowd.” Gary Halbert A lot of people don’t know how to sell custom Gi's or retail Gi's to their students. Actually if you are not selling high quality equipment at your school, your students are probably already frustrated with trying to find it on their own and will appreciate your guidance. It's actually quite easy. Simple. Your students already look up to you as an Expert. Many of them are just white and blue belts and they probably haven't even tried that many different that many brands of Gi's. Your higher belts already fly your team flag. So they will want school Gis. With our OTM Gis you know that you are getting a great quality Gi that you will be confident recommending to your students. Once your students see you using the product and recommending it, it's not really a sale it's more of a suggestion. If fact you might find your students just asking you to buys gis or where they should buy gis. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 9 Just use the Gis yourself and have your instructors wear them too. Then let your students try them on so they get the right fit. Once you get custom Gis the sale is even easier. Now a days, people are collecting gis. It’s not uncommon for a white belt to own 10 gis. Selling gis is very easy just have a good product and make it easy for your students to get them from you. It is good to have multiple payment options, cash, check and credit / debit cards. This is the BJJ Gi Closet of a Blue Belt that was posted on Facebook. He has over 10 Uniforms. At quick count there is around $1900 in BJJ Uniforms in this kids closet! This might not be normal, but it sure shows how easy it can be to sell BJJ Gis. Imagine if you have 3 or 4 of these guys in your gym buying Gis from you. Not a hard sell at all. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 10 Mistake #6 – How To Handle Exchanges Or Returns. You’re Students Pay Your Bills So Keep Them Happy! “Customer satisfaction is worthless. Customer loyalty is priceless.” Jeffrey Gitomer Another mistake that people make is that they don’t know how to handle a return or exchange item at their school. This is really pretty easy. Your students are already the lifeblood of your business and you want to make sure they are getting good service and good products. If you do have a student that gets a Gi and for whatever reason they don't like it or it isn't fitting very well, I suggest you exchange it for a Gi that does fit. Then take the Gi and wash it, and you can either sell it used or you can keep it at your school as a Gi for people as a loaner. Students are always forgetting Gis, or God forbid somebody has a really bad smelling Gi. Its important to keep your students (clients) happy. If you ever get any defective product from us, it does happen sometimes. Don’t worry we will replace it right away! Just contact us. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 11 Mistake #7 – Not Ordering or Can’t Afford Gis. Pre Sale Is Your Solution! “The use of other people's money, also called financial leverage, can be a great tool for speeding up your growth of wealth.” Robert Kiyosaki A big mistake that people make is think is that they can’t afford custom Gis. Or, that they need to save the entire cost of the order to get started with a Custom School Gi Program. You can actually do a presale to all of your students. It is very simple and here is how it works. All you need to do is print out a picture of the OTM Gi. We can supply you with one or you can grab it off our website. If you are doing a custom Gi we provide you with a mock up in full color. All you need to do is print it out. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 12 For a week or 10 days, as people come in to class, take a look at their Gi, see if they need to get a new Gi or ask them if they want to get the New Custom School Gi. You can even pass the print outs around and have students reserve the size they want and print their name on the print out. Just to keep a running tally. You can either charge a fifty percent deposit, or you can have them pay in full for the whole thing on the spot. I have clients that do both. . Pre-sale Gi's are very simple: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Give us a call. We will mock up a gi for you. Show students the gi mock up. Ask them to reserve a Gi or two. Take the deposits, usually 50% down. Call us to start production! Easy! It’s Not Catholic School BJJ School Uniforms Are Cool! “Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society.” Mark Twain A lot of people ask me about mandatory student uniforms or just having an optional student uniform. I don't really think you can go wrong with each one either way. I will tell you a story about one of my clients named Paul. Paul had a really successful gym and he decided that he want to make it look a little more uniform and make things look nice. What he did was he started to have a suggested school uniform. By suggested, I mean that when they signed up, they bought one Gi, one rash guard, and one pair of shorts as their “team uniforms.” Students are not required to wear only items that were branded with his school. Meaning if someone wanted to go and buy a different brand OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 14 than his brand of Gi or rash guard, he was okay with that. They just had to have one set of gear they got when they signed up. He did require that they have at least one good Gi one good rash guard and one pair of shorts so they would have something proper to wear for Gi and no Gi classes. What Paul found out really quickly was that the team Gis and the custom rash guards and shorts that we had made for his school, were of such high quality and they looked so great, that people were buying them over and over again without him requiring it. So by having his students required to buy their initial Gi from him, students found they really liked the Gis and gear so they just kept on buying them over and over again. Paul actually ended up selling lots and lots of school uniforms that way. And that lead to lots and lots of profit for him. A lot of people do run mandatory uniform programs. I have another client, Brian who does really well with this. He requires students wear his Gis, rash guards, and shorts, for every class. He really likes everybody matching. He also has different colors depending on which program they are enrolled in. He turns a very good profit from his school uniform program. Also, lets face it if you have to buy all new gear to go to a new school you’re less likely to leave the gym you’re at for a new one. I personally think that a suggested program is the way to go. However the mandatory uniforms are huge profit makers. I had to go to an all boys Catholic School. So, I might be a bit rebellious against required uniforms. It is really whichever one works better for your school, go ahead and use it. It’s a good idea to test both ways out. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 15 Mistake #9 – Not Having A Competition Team Uniform. Competition Team Gis Are An Easy Sell. “Teamwork is the secret that make common people achieve uncommon result.” Ifeanyi Enoch Onuoha Competition Team Gi your whole school wants one, they just haven’t told you yet! These are best sellers at all schools. Competition Gis are successful for all my clients that use them. They are one of the products we specialize in. Basically your competition team is going to get the option to buy a high end, high quality uniform. You make an entire matching competition team uniform. The uniform doesn’t have to say competition team on it. This is just a top of the line Gi decked out in your logos, all the colors are matching and it is something that really looks great, basically a cool high quality up sell Gi. The costs are a little higher but you also a lot profit more on the sale of each Gi. All of your dedicated students will invest in having a great school Gi. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 16 The Competition Gi is what your team shows up wearing at all the tournament to show everyone that you are a team and everyone that you're together. The top guys are always wearing them and the instructor is always wearing them. This is the only Gi you and your instructors should wear. The competition team Gis are always the best quality high end Gis. They also have the best mark up for you, meaning the most profit. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 17 Mistake #10 – Not Doing Private Labeling. R. And D. Rip Off & Duplicate “Don't reinvent the wheel, just realign it.” Anthony J. D'Angelo Private labeling is almost like a secret in the industry. What private labeling is, is where you take an already pre made product, say a pair of shorts, MMA gloves, or a Gi, and we add your logo and your school information to it. The quality is proven and tested already. Therefore, it looks like you have a custom made pair of shorts rash guard or Gi just specifically for your school, when actually all you did was re-label a pair of our existing blank gear. You get to look like you have a lot of high quality custom gear branded with your logo. You get the same high quality that we offer; however it has your logos on it. And, you get it at a low wholesale price. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 18 We private label all the below items. 1) Gloves 2) Shorts 3) Rash Guards 4) Gis & Gi belts 5) Shin Guards 6) T-Shirts 7) Hoodies 8) Hats & Beanies 9) Punching Bags 10) Pads and Mitts Contact Us for FREE mock up and FREE estimate on private labeled gear for your School or Brand. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 19 MEGA BONUS! The Best Way To Run Your Gi Program With The Least Stress And The Most Profit. This Is A Huge Money Maker For Your School! “If you know how to spend less than you get, you have the philosopher's stone.” Benjamin Franklin Now as a bonus, I am going to teach you the most successful Gi program I have ever seen run at any school and it requires zero money out of pocket and you get money in your account every month for Gis. Even when you are not selling Gis. This program makes sure that all of your students are wearing nice, high quality, clean Gi's and it has the highest profit potential for you. Here is how it works. You create a school Gi program where your students are getting a new Gi every three months. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 20 You will break the cost of the student’s Gi into three payments for them so it is very affordable. Then along side of your student’s current monthly tuition charge to train at your school, you are also going to charge them for a third of the cost of their Gi. It’s like a Gi subscription program. Let's say you are charging them $50 a month for a $150 competition team, fully decked out, nicest Gi you got. That Gi is costing you $55$75 approximately. So the first month your students come in and they sign up for the Gi program they get charged $50. Then the next month they get charged $50 again and then $50 on the third month. So every three months they pay for a new Gi. In month two you will have collected $100 form each of your students. This will cover the cost of the Gis and you will have some left over as profit too. Now its time to put in your order for your students’ Gis. This part is easy. Just Give us a call and we will take your order and get your Gi's shipped out to you right away. Now when the last payment on the third month comes through, you just hand the brand new Gis to your students. Your student will be excited to get a new cool looking Gi. The other students that aren't involved in the Gi program will be wondering why they are not getting what appears to be their FREE Gi and they will want to sign up for the program too. This is an Excellent Program. There are a lot of my clients that are using this now and it is very successful. • It takes no money out of pocket. • It allows or a higher margin on the Gi. • It takes all of the stress off you of having to figure out inventory. • You only have to place one Gi order every three months. OTM • email: Orders@OnTheMat.com • www.WholesaleBJJGis.com (714) 594-9121 21 Imagine every three months, all your guys and Girls are getting brand new Gi's.
