1 TINTED FILM Clings statically without adhesive Instructions • • Please read the instructions thoroughly before installing! You will also need: Window cleaning agent, tape measure, utility knife, household detergent, ruler, spray bottle, (paper) towel. 1 Clean window. Clean your window with a conventional household glass-cleaning agent. In order to apply the tinted foil successfully, the window pane must be completely dry and free of grime. 7 Spray surface of foil. After you have positioned the tinted foil, spray the front of the foil with water. This is necessary in order to avoid damage to the surface of the foil during the next step of the installation. 2 Measure window. Measure your window. The area to be measured is that within the rubber seal or window frame. We recommend leaving a space of 2 mm between the foil and the window frame. 8 3 Cut foil. The adhesive side (i. e. the side which will contact the glass) of the tinted foil is covered with a 1 transparent protective foil. Lay the foil on a clean, smooth surface (not on a carpet, to avoid static electricity). The tinted foil itself should show upwards and the transparent foil protecting it should lie on the smooth surface. Now cut the foil to the desired size using a ruler and a utility knife. At this point, the tinted foil should still be covered by the transparent protective foil. Warning: The 1 tinted foil is tinted in a light black colour. To prevent scratching both sides are covered with transparent protective foils. These foils are remarkably thinner than the tinted foil and completely transparent. Smooth out moisture with wiper. Using the rubber wiper provided, now smooth out all of the moisture between the window pane and the foil, starting from the middle of the pane and working outwards towards the edges. When smoothing out the moisture, pull only the soft rubber lip across the foil. Use a soft cotton towel to remove water and any remaining moisture that has been smoothed out. Warning: Please pay particular attention to the edges. The edges and corners of the installed tinted foil may not come into contact with the rubber seal or the window frame. Otherwise this could have a negative effect on the ability of the foil to adhere to the window pane. Download. D GB I F CZ ES NL RO HU www.d-c-fix.com 1 4 5 1 GB 04/2012 6 Spray window pane. Mix a few drops of household detergent with cold water in a water spray bottle. Spray the inner surface of the window pane generously with this mixture. The liberal use of the water/detergent mixture makes it simple to subsequently position the tinted foil on the window pane. Warning: The use of water is essential for the adhesion of the foil! Peel off protective foils. Peel off the transparent protective foils from both sides of the tinted foil, begin at one of the corners. Affix the tinted foil to the window pane immediately after peeling off the transparent protective foils. If the tinted foil becomes stuck to itself, separate it carefully. Warning: Make sure to keep dust and fluff away from the tinted foil after the protective foils have been removed from it! Affixing the tinted foil. Put the side of the tinted foil that was inside when wrapped onto the wet interior window pane. Due to the fact that you have already sprayed the window pane generously with the water/detergent mixture, it is now simple to push the foil into the correct position. If this is not possible, detach the foil and again spray the window pane generously with the mixture of water and detergent. Caution: Do not apply glue to the tinted foil! The foil is designed to adhere statically, without glue! INFORMATION • The transparency of the foil will improve after 2–3 days, once the remaining water bet ween the foil and the window has evaporated. • Use the foil only on the inside of the window pane. • Some window manufacturer guarantees become invalid once a foil has been applied to the window pane. Window foil does not cause glass to break. It can, however, make an existing defect visible or accelerate its progress. Glass breakage only happens in very rare cases. • The tinted foil only adheres to clean, smooth glass surfaces. The foil will not adhere to satined or structured glass surfaces. • To ensure successful installation, do not install the tinted foil on heated window panes. • When installing foil on larger windows, the assistance of a second person is recommended. • When measuring or cutting the foil, make use of the edges and corners provided on the product whenever possible. • Using the wiper provided, always smooth out the moisture starting from the middle of the pane and working towards the edges. • You can cover any size of window by aligning several sheets next to each other. • Cleaning: The foil can be cleaned using conventional household window cleaning agents. Do not use cleaning agents that contain a high amount of alcohol or spirits! Test the cleaning substance on an inconspicuous spot prior to use. d-c-fix® ist eine Marke der Konrad Hornschuch AG 74679 Weißbach GERMANY Made in Germany www.d-c-fi x.com
