Office Space from £20 per week!
Welcome From The Editor...
We hope that you enjoyed the last issue of The Sabden Link magazine. The refurbishments at the Link
are complete, apart from a few snags that we hope to fix over the next week or two. We really will have
an open day in the new year!
It has been lovely that so many people have been able to see the facilities for themselves at one of our events, but
we’d love to welcome more of you! We have a few events planned for the New Year, and hope that there will be
something of interest for every one.
In this issue, we’ve included a Village Directory, so that you have many local contact details on hand, and more
details on the facilities that we have on offer at The Link.
As ever, we’d love to hear from YOU! Do get in contact to let us know what you’d like from
the village magazine, our forthcoming web site, and events at The Link. In the mean time,
we wish you a very happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous 2013.
We have two modern offices with
full high speed broadband available
for local businesses. One is
fully let, but we do
have another office
available on a shared
or exclusive basis.

Wild about building!
Almost 5 years ago, Shaun Wild and his family
discovered Sabden and decided to move here!
They set about finding a suitable family home, and
have recently moved into the beautifully renovated
and extended house on Padiham Road. But you’d
expect it to be a lovely house, as Shaun is the man
behind Wild Plasterers and Building Contractors,
and he did all of the work himself.
“We first came to Sabden when our little boy Sam
joined the nursery. We knew it was a great village,
and decided that we’d like to settle here”. The family’s
three boys are now all happily attending St Mary’s RC
Primary, and Shaun is becoming a popular face in the
village. Not only was he seen working on his own
house renovation, he is also busy on local building
projects, and was recently recruited as the drummer
by The Kicks for the Jubilee celebrations.
You couldn’t be in safer hands though, if you have a
building project; Shaun was a time served plastering
apprentice before teaching he subject at Burnley
College. In the 25 years or so since qualifying, he has
worked to gain a full range of skills, and offers the
highest standards of workmanship. He was the
contractor trusted with the renovations at Grade II
listed Sabden Old Hall, and has numerous other
specialist renovations to his name.
When we caught up with Shaun he told us, “I’m
loving the work in the village, and would gladly take
on more projects here. “I know the people of Sabden
are looking for quality and value, and that’s exactly
what I have to offer”.
So, if you have a building project,
no matter how small, Shaun could
be just the man you need.

Celebrating 13 years of keeping us healthy!

Wellspring – The Clitheroe Health Store is now under new management! Owner Hilary is
back in store, bringing with her years of knowledge and training in both herbal and
pharmaceutical medicine. She began her career in intensive care nursing and then went on
to teach health sciences. Hilary has had a lifelong interest in natural health products
influenced by her father, who himself was an herbalist, decided to open her own store with
her daughter in 2000.
She would also like to introduce Sabdener, Gina Reid as her new manager, who brings
valuable experience with five years’ training in health and nutrition. Gina has a background
in Holistic and beauty therapies and an avid interest in herbal remedies and supplements.
She worked her way up from a retail assistant to store manager in a previous health store
chain.
Walking into a health food store can be confusing and
overwhelming, but with friendly and knowledgeable staff on
hand to assist, Wellspring is a warm and welcoming shop to
go to for all your health and well being needs. It is a local
independent retailer, whose approach is based on a
professional code of ethics which ensures an honest and
reliable service. Wellspring stock the finest quality products,
across the price range, and very carefully hand pick products
that are sourced from manufacturers with stringent quality
controls, therefore stocking the best products for their
customers.

Sabden FC plays in Division One of the Burnley &
District Sunday League. The team are also already
through to the semi-final of the divisional cup,
having played in the final last season.
We would like to invite all villagers to support
Sabden FC; whether that be on match days (all
games kick off at 1pm Sunday, home or away), or
by following our fortunes via our incredible new
website www.sabdenfc.co.uk, on Facebook,
www.facebook.com/SabdenFootballClub or on
Twier @sabdenfc. We also have a small selecon of merchandise for sale; currently car sckers
and coffee mugs – would make brilliant stocking
fillers!
Those adventurous souls who aend home
matches (and there are about 35 hard-core
supporters), find us very welcoming and there
are quality refreshments available at incredibly
low prices, with tea and coffee on a donaon
basis.

Help to stop those colds!
With winter here and New Year on the way, the best
selling products are Echinacea – well known for its
immune boosting properties, and combined with
vitamin C can help stop colds before they even start.
And after all of that indulgence?
Wellspring has a range of detox and weight loss
supplements to help kick-start those New Year
resolutions for clearing the post celebration pounds.

The commiee was formed back
in 1977 to arrange celebraons
for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee.
Villagers had a wonderful me,
and since then, the commiee
has staged many events for the
village of Sabden.
Every year we witness a fantasc bonfire & fireworks display,
and enjoy carols around the
Christmas tree together with a
lovely
Christmas
display
and a
visit by
the
man in
red for the children. Events like
these make Sabden the very
special place that we all enjoy
living in..
The Commiee became
registered charity in 2005.
