our ministry for 2012 Dining Room Seven days a week, breakfast and dinner meals are provided. Meals are offered at a low cost with the intent of promoting dignity and responsibility. Hygiene Facilities and Basic Needs A place to brush your teeth, do your laundry, iron your clothes, comb your hair, use the restroom, and wash your hands—all simple tasks, but tasks that can be impossible if you don’t have a place of your own. Resource Office Patrons receive assistance in many areas, including: Prescription co-pays Job searches Transportation needs Clothing or furniture needs Referrals for health, dental and eye care needs Substance abuse treatment referrals Appointment scheduling Completion of paperwork and applications we need you! Degage Ministries is blessed by the large number of individuals who partner with us in meeting the needs of those we serve. ID Office Obtaining legal identification is a necessary milestone in an individual’s pursuit to become self-supporting. Well-trained staff work alongside individuals through the process of obtaining a State of Michigan ID and/or birth certificate. Learn how you can help our ministry. Open Door Open 7 nights a week, the Open Door provides a safe haven during the overnight hours to 25-30 women in crisis. Food Pantry Heartside residents are able to select the food they want in the quantities they need. Building Community Helping patrons escape the monotony of everyday life on the street, monthly special events such as holiday parties, trips to the beach, fishing, a musical performance or a sporting event are offered. To reflect the love of Christ to all who come through our doors by building relationships and offering programs that foster dignity and respect. Degage Dollars 40 jobs are available daily allowing patrons the opportunity to earn vouchers towards a meal or services at Dégagé Housing Office Staff & volunteers are available to assist individuals in securing safe, affordable housing. 144 Division Ave S Grand Rapids, MI 49503-4216 Phone: (616) 454-1661 www.degageministries.org 2011 annual report Simple gestures ...powerful results. our highlights 400 – 500 Opened Housing Office in June 2011 Number of people who came through our doors every day. 9,842 Over night stays. 337 Dégagé expands hours to allow for a safe, warm environment from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. during winter months. 52,476 Showers taken. new housing office! 1,011 Visits to Dégagé’s new Housing Office. 1,096 Long distance phone calls made to connect with family. 54,966 Pounds of food purchased at Second Harvest Gleaners for distribution through our Food Pantry. 1,200 Income 52% 22% 11% Church 15% Foundation Business Expenses Individuals 76% Transportation Meals served. 10,927 In only 6 months, over 1000 visits were made to Dégagé’s Housing Office. Each person is given individualized assistance ranging from meeting with landlords, filling out forms, reviewing past credit history, etc. For those moving from a shelter to permanent housing, assistance is given with pick up and delivery of donated furniture. Volunteers work with those who have secured housing to help ensure sustainability. Warming Center State of MI ID’s obtained. our gifts our achievements for 2011 Volunteers who helped fulfill our mission. Parameters are expanded for distribution of bus tickets for job searches and medical appointments. Dégagé Dollars Work program expands allowing patrons additional ways to earn Dégagé Dollars which can be used for any service in our facility Food Pantry The Food Pantry expands from being open twice a month to being open weekly. 15% 9% Fund Raising Management & General The above figures represent preaudited financial statement data. Audited financial statements are available upon request. Support Group Narcotics Anonymous support group expands from once a week to twice a week.
