CV60 Vehicle Mount Computer Quick Start Guide CV60 Vehicle Mount Computer The CV60 is a rugged PC computing device consisting of a 12.1-inch color, SVGA LCD display with touch screen for data input and menu navigation. Communication options include connectivity through two RS-232 serial ports, two USB ports (host), and Ethernet Wireless network connectivity is enabled through multiple LAN radio options. Peripherals supported include PS/2 keyboard, USB mouse, exterĆ nal headset, wired RS-232 scanners, wireless scanners via propriĆ etary wireless base station, wireless printers and USB data recovery drives. Check the contents of the box against the invoice for completeness and contact your local Intermec service representative if there is a problem. The CV60 shipping box contains: S CV60 Vehicle Mount Computer (P/N 245-232-101) S Documentation (P/N 962-054-072) CV60 Vehicle Mount Computer 2 Documentation CV60 Vehicle Mount Computer Quick Start Guide Locating the CV60 PC Ports You connect power, a keyboard, scanner, and RS-232 serial devices to the ports that are located on the bottom panel of the CV60. Ethernet Keyboard USB Power Connector Power Switch Serial Ports Speaker Microphone Headphone COM1:Use this port to connect the vehicle mount computer to other RS-232 devices, such as PCs, scanners, scales, and printĆ ers, using an RS-232 null-modem adapter cable. The RS-232 null modem cable is an accessory, which is sold and ordered sepĆ arately. COM2:Use this port to connect the vehicle mount computer to other RS-232 devices, such as PCs, scales, and printers, using an RS-232 null-modem adapter cable. The CV60 PC supports these Intermec scanning devices: S Intermec® 1400 Linear Imager S Intermec 1551 and 1553 Laser Scanners S Intermec 1552 Cordless Scanner CV60 Vehicle Mount Computer Quick Start Guide 3 Note: COM2 is not available for use on CV60 computers with factory-installed PicoLink radios communicating with the Intermec 1552 cordless scanner. Power supply connector This connector provides power to the data collection computer to one of the DC power supply kits (6-18 VDC or 15 to 96 VDC) or to connect the AC power supĆ ply when operating the vehicle mount computer from the deskĆ top mounting stand. You must have a power supply connected to operate the vehicle mount computer. Keyboard connector Use this connector to connect the CV60 keyboard or a PC-PS/2 keyboard to the vehicle mount computer using the CV60 keyboard adapter cable. The keyboard and keyĆ board adapter cable are accessories, which are sold and ordered separately. USB connectors Use these connectors to attach USB serial peĆ ripheral devices such as keyboards, mice, hubs to the CV60. The CV60 supports USB version 1.1. Ethernet connector Use this connector for connection to a 10baseT/100baseT Ethernet LAN. 4 CV60 Vehicle Mount Computer Quick Start Guide Attaching an External Antenna You can also use an Intermec-approved accessory antenna to improve RF communications. Note: See your Intermec sales representative for inforĆ mation about the CV60 and a list of Intermec-approved accessory antennas for the CV60. Attaching a Scanner You can attach a scanner to scan and input bar code data. Use the accessory scanner cables to connect a scanning device. 1 Insert the scanner cable connector straight into the COM1 port on the vehicle mount computer. 2 Use a small straight-slot screwdriver to tighten the two screws in the scanner cable connector and secure the cable to the CV60. 3 Attach the other end of the scanner cable to your scanner. 4 Make sure the cable will not be pinched or rubbed by any moving parts on the vehicle. Connecting to Other Serial Devices You use the CV60's PC's serial port to transfer data between the vehicle mount computer and a serial device. The CV60 PC has two serial ports (COM1 and COM2) that support RS-232 communicaĆ tions. You can use COM1 and the accessory RS-232 null-modem adapter cable (P/N 226-106-001) to connect to a serial device, such as a printer, scale or PC. CV60 Vehicle Mount Computer Quick Start Guide 5 Setting up for Data Collection Your CV60 may be loaded with one of three Operating Systems, installed at the factory. S Windows XP S Windows XP Embedded S Windows CE. NET Regardless of the OS used, device configuration is performed in a similar manner. Device Configuration Scanner settings for the CV60 can be configured via the InterĆ mec Settings control panel applet. From the CV60, tap Start > Settings > Control Panel > Intermec Settings. You will be prompted to save any changes. 6 CV60 Vehicle Mount Computer Quick Start Guide Install Microsoft ActiveSync and establish a partnership with your CV60 (Windows CE. NET only) 1 Connect the CV60 to your desktop PC using a serial cable, or an ActiveSync cable. Install ActiveSync on your desktop PC by downloading it from the Microsoft web site. 2 The CV60 should shortly be communicating with your deskĆ top PC. Follow the onscreen instructions for establishing a partnership. When the partnership has been established, the device name of your CV60 appears in the ActiveSync window on your desktop PC. After a partnership has been established, all future connects and disconnects are handled through ActiveSync. Check to ensure that your CV60 Vehicle Mount Computer is connected to the correct power source. CV60 will not turn on when the On/Off switch is pressed. 1 Check the power supply connectors, and cabling from the CV60. 2 Check the connections from the dc power supply and verify that the green LED is lit. CV60 shuts down during operation. Check the power supply cable(s) for intermittent operation by moving or jiggling it. Check to see if the green LED on the back of the power supĆ ply is flickering/blinking at the moment the CV60 shuts down. You may need an additional cable to fix this condition. Order cable P/N M2A-F1900-00. CV60 does not turn off. S May not turn off when it is processing data. S In the event that your vehicle mount computer locks up, do a warm reset by pressing the on/off button. If you need to do a cold reset, hold the on/off button down for a longer periĆ od of time (4-5 seconds). This causes an emergency forced shut down of the computer.
