Notes from Choir Lomax Choir Parents: As you know, the first concert of the year is quickly approaching, and the choir students have been working extremely hard in class. Every day, choir students are preparing music for our performance and developing the skills necessary to put on an impressive first concert. Jacobs’ and Ms. Castaneda’s 6th grade math classes worked out problems and used Activ Expressions to lock in their answers. Once all of the students answered, the results appeared in a bar graph. They were able to get immediate feedback, discuss answers, and celebrate when everyone answered correctly. The students are always eager to use the Expressions to show what they are learning. Who am I? Mrs. Lambert’s ELAR classes created a “Guess Who I Am?” character bag. Each student read a biography or autobiography then presented the character traits, place and date of birth, and reasons why this person was famous. The class asked the presenter questions about the book in order to guess the famous person. Some of the biographies and autobiographies included the author of Harry Potter, Helen Keller and Walt Disney. Mrs. Lambert has some very creative students. Great job classes! Coaches Corner Coach Williams’ students, both 5th graders and 6th graders, will have a basketball test next week on Wednesday or Thursday depending upon which day they come to PE. This past week, the PE department held the annual Punt, Pass and Kick event. We are so thankful to the students who showed up to participate, and the races were close. This year, we were only allowed one boy and one girl from each age group to represent the school at the district competition on October 17th. The following students will be representing our school, and we wish them luck.
