Matrix Trident installation tutorial (v1.0) SLIM XBOX360 TUTORIAL This tutorial will guide you in the process of installing your Matrix Trident into a Slim or Fat Xbox360 with 16Mb NAND. Once correctly installed the Trident will offer you three independent banks of NAND that can behave exactly like the original one and can be flashed with any SPI NAND programmer like the Matrix NAND programmer. Using the external switch it will than be possible to select which NAND to activate at the boot of the Xbox360. Matrix Trident also implements a reset feature that resets the Xbox360 every time a new bank is selected thus ensuring a corruption free NAND if bank switching is done when the Xbox360 console is already on. Users can keep their original NAND safe into the machine, while using the external NAND banks to load a custom Dashboard/Kernel or alternative OS in any of the other two banks. The possibilities are endless. The Trident is a stand alone NAND expansion solution, meaning it can work with ANY Glitch chip available on the market to date. Using it with a Glitcher II chip is of course highly suggested! REQUIREMENTS: Required Hardware: • A SLIM Xbox360 with a Glitch chip installed and working (Matrix Glitcher II suggested). • Matrix NAND Programmer or any other USB SPI NAND programmer to dump/flash the NAND banks. • Soldering Material. Required Software: • NandPro V 2.0e o NandPro V 3.0 or any other software compatible with your SPI NAND programmer. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE: 1) Open the Xbox 360 and remove the motherboard from the inside. There are many online tutorial to guide you through this steps. 2) Prepare the Trident as follows: a) Place the Black and Blue stickers on top of the connectors: b) Insert the black 4 pins cable for the external switch connector. Insert the white 4 pins cable (only if you have a Matrix Glitcher II and want to disable the glitcher when the original NAND is selected) 3) Carefully place the Matrix Trident in position so that all 16 red soldering points are aligned with the corresponding pads on the Xbox360 motherboard. Before soldering, make sure to secure the Trident with some tape to avoid it moving around. We suggest to begin by soldering the point in the lower left corner (the one closet to the number zero on the Trident pcb). Once this is done, make sure that the pcb seats flat on the surface of the motherboard and that the alignment with the other pads is still correct. You can then proceed to solder all the other points until all 16 pads are done. 4) Using the installation diagram , finish soldering the B and H wires to the corresponding points on the Xbox360 motherboard. 5) If you are using a Matrix Glitcher II, connect the white 4 pins cable. 6) If you have an old Matrix Glitcher I or a different glitcher brand you can use the Trident onboard power switch to disable the glitcher when the original NAND is selected. Remove the wire powering your glitcher pcb (vcc/3v3) and use the following diagram to connect the Trident to your glitcher’s vcc/3v3 pad. 7) Put the mainboard back in the cage, and proceed to close the XBOX. When closing the box, also use some duct tape to protect the flat cable from cuts of the metal cage to avoid any damage. Leave out the screw in the corner to not put too much pressure on the cable. The best way to bring outside the black flat cable is to have it pass from the back of the the Xbox 360. Here are some pictures to better explain: You can than position the external switch it in any place you like, on the top or side or back of the Xbox360, there is plenty of cable to choose the position you prefer best. Use the piece of double adhesive tape that you will find inside the bag to fix into the chosen position the external switch. Congratulation, your Matrix Trident is now installed and ready to use. HOW TO SELECT THE DIFFERENT NAND BANKS. The external switch of the Trident has three positions and three leds on board. With the switch totally on the right (GREEN LED), the ORIGINAL NAND is selected. In this position any glitcher chip connected to the Trident (white flat cable in case of Glitcher II or Y pad for any other glitcher chip) is also disabled. The Xbox360 will behave like an original untouched console. With the switch in the middle position (BLUE LED), Trident NAND bank 1 is activated. With the switch all to the left position (RED LED) , Trident NAND bank 2 is activated. Please note that every time a different bank is selected with the external switch, the Trident will also reset the Xbox360 console to avoid any data corruption on the selected bank. We always suggest to change NAND bank from the standby state. Once a bank is selected, it can be read and written to just like the original onboard nand. As a first step it is suggested to connect your SPI programmer, place the switch in the GREEN position and make a backup copy of your original NAND. Do the same for the BLUE and RED banks on your Matrix Trident (these are currently blank but a backup is needed to preserve any bad block information that might be present on those banks). Once this is done you can use each different bank like an independent NAND. Please refer to the software usage manual for full instructions.
