September Race Report
Hello again to all members. Been a while since the last newsletter, but I think we have it all worked out now. My apologies if
this month’s race report seems a little abbreviated.
Didn’t get much time as a race observer on race day. In addition it’s been KRAZY for me this past month getting ready for the
Rotax Grand Nationals in Wisconsin. Dylan has had a strong season in Rotax International. Finishing third in the Gatorz Cup
Championship, leading the LAKC ’08 championship and a 12th place national ranking in Rotax International, thus earning his
chance to compete against the best in the nation. Should be fun & exciting. Wish us luck.
With just three races to go in the 2008 season, round #8 proved to be another successful LAKC weekend. Our attendance
continues to be strong with just over 100 total entries on race day.
The Kid Karts took the track with 19 competitors; Cooper Whitbread would be quickest in qualifying followed by David
Sims Jr. & Chloe St. George. But in the 8 lap heat race it would be RJ Stearns taking the checkered in front of Sims &
Whitbread. Sims would take the Main but would later receive a mechanical DQ, handing the win to Chris Trickle, Whitbread 2nd
& Christian Brooks 3rd.
Willy Axton grabbed the pole in Jr.-1 with Ethan Quinn & Slater Stowell close behind. Axton would remain at the front
for the heat race while Quinn & Stowell traded spots at the stripe. In the main, Chancellor Tiscareno would take the win, with
Quinn & Axton 2nd & 3rd.
Jesse Huaman would be at the top of the qualifying chart in HPV-1, followed by Slater Stowell & Willy Axton. Stowell &
Huaman would swap positions in the heat race, Cory Davidson 3rd. In the main, Huaman would return the favor by getting to the
checkered flag just a few inches ahead of Stowell while Chancellor Tiscareno rounding out in third.
In the always competitive HPV-2 class, Matt Meisberger was quickest with Eric Reschke 2nd. Chandler Campbell, who seems
to be improving everytime out qualified 3rd.
Tyler Palmer would take the heat race 5 secs. ahead of Kyle Park. Chandler Campbell had a good race going until contact
with Garrett Becker on the last lap, last turn would end her run. Becker Would come home 3rd.
In the Main, Palmer & Reschke would do battle for most of the event, with Palmer taking the nod by .010 secs. Matt
Meisberger 3rd just a few feet back.
Dakota Dickerson was atop the Jr Rotax chart in qualifying followed closely by Nick Silva & Michael Graves. Silva would
win the heat race with Vinnie Maestas 2nd and Jeremy Kane 3rd. Dickerson faded to fourth but would redeem himself in the main.
Michael Graves threw everything he had at Dickerson but could not get by before the finish. Silva finished the day in 3rd.
Dylan Stalker would “barely” grab the Rotax International pole over Matt Ostiguy and Brett Scheffer. At tha start of the heat
race, Ostiguy would get the jump over both Stalker and Scheffer. and eventually would pull out a 4 second gap at the finish.
In the main, no one really had anything for Ostiguy as he cruised to his first win of the season ahead of Brett Scheffer in 2nd.
Stalker managed to fight off a charging Matt Meech to finish 3rd.
Greg Smith was back to his old self in Rotax Masters taking pole over Keith Waters & Dan Rivera. Smith was at the front
again in the heat race finishing over 2 seconds ahead of Waters. Steve Dzurilla in 3rd. In the Main Dzurilla would pressure Smith
for most of the race but could not match Smith’s speed. Dan Rivera crossing the line in 3rd.
The Musgrave’s would be on their own planet in the shifter class. Nelson Grey would qualify 3rd shifter. Rotax DD2 would
see Terry Ballard over Scott Thompson (trying out the DD2 for the first time) and Maryeve Dufault.
Willy Musgrave would take the shifter heat race over Billy & Nelson Grey. Ballard would take the DD2 over Dufault,
Thompson in 3rd. Not much would change in the shifter main with Willy Misgrave ahead at the stripe over Billy by .142 sec.
Grey in 3rd a “few seconds” back. Ballard & Dufault would swap positions several times during the main, but slower traffic
would play a part as Ballard was able to get by and pull out a 3 second gap over Dufault. Scott Thompson in 3rd.
Mike Lewis proved quickest in Tag qualifying over Jason Bunch & Phillip Grey. In the heat race, Grey would have Lewis at
the finish by just over 1/10 sec. Jason Bunch 3rd. Phillip Grey would cruise to a win over Ariel Jimenez, who came from her 6th
starting position to take second, Jason Bunch in 3rd.
World Formula qualifying, Tim Hepburn would best Gabriella Robles by .180 sec. and Gerry Florez in 3rd. Robles and
Hepburn would run nose to bumper for most of the heat race with Robles crossing .62 seconds ahead of Hepburn. Terry Nash in
3rd. Hepburn & Robles would continue where they left off but this time it would be Jonathan Miller making his way past Robles
for the win. Hepburn in 3rd.
Just a reminder that Dylan & I are still doing Pre-tech on Saturdays after practice.
As we wind down the 2008 season I just want to say thanks again to all the club sponsors, team and volunteers who make
things happen for all of us to enjoy. We will be announcing some information soon regarding the banquet and Christmas parade.
See ya the 21 st.

SAFETY CORNER
Hello to all members,
Welcome back to our safety corner.
MLP Imaging
I would like to cover this month the importance of the blue flag.
The blue flag is a flag that can prevent accidents. This flag is used when a faster Kart is approaching. Usually
this flag is displayed for lap traffic letting the front Kart know that he is to let the faster car go by.
Why can this flag prevent accidents you may ask. If the lead pack is approaching a Kart and if for some reason
the they are fighting for position they will do what they can to get past the slower can and sometimes take
unnecessary risks.
But in a perfect condition the slower car will give way, the lead pack will over take and everybody is happy.
This is not the reality in our sport.
Even the top drivers in the world struggle with this, but I think if we teach our kids to do a better job on a blue
flag
condition we will be developing better drivers for the future.
Before the next race may I suggest that you talk to your driver about the blue flag and how to handle lap traffic,
this may help him/her on track.

Notes from the Board….
Several racers were prevented from entering the track during the August race because they did not have their
tech stickers. Please get your kart through pre-tech first thing in the morning or on Saturday afternoon to avoid
being disappointed.
We will be checking for safety wire on your weights at post race tech inspection so, if you have changed your
weights after pre-tech, be sure finish the job by securing the fastener with safety wire or some kind of a clip.
Last month we had weight come off a kart which was a dangerous situation not to speak of the DQ for being
under weight.
Everybody in the pits needs to have an insurance wristband. Anybody that does not want to buy a wristband can
view the race from the free viewing area adjacent to the back straight. Just remember that they cannot come into
the pits without first going to registration and purchasing a wristband.
For all the Kid Karts, please refrain from warming your engines up in the fueling area and wait until you are on
the grid. With all the noise, the guys in tech and at the scales cannot hear the radio communications which is
holding things up.
