Y.B Dato’ Sri Idris Jala
3 APRIL 2012 (Tuesday)
12.30 P.M. - 2.30 P.M.
TANG ROOM, BANKERS CLUB, KL
The business community remains cautious about the global economic
scenario and possible recession and instability arising out of current
economic crises around the world. Malaysia, as an open export-led
economy has to date been successful in avoiding the worst of the
financial and economic fallout from the Eurozone crisis and the American
slowdown. Nevertheless, risks still exist and dampen the appetite for
investment at a time when private sector investment growth is sorely
needed. Challenges abound, including :
• Continued slowdown in global economies that have impacted Malaysian exports ...
• High unemployment in USA and EU is causing governments to try to limit outsourcing and retain jobs
in their own countries ...
• Asian growth remains positive but China has slowed somewhat and regional competition remains
fierce ...

175 YEARS OF MICCI
Founded in 1837, the Malaysian
International Chamber of Commerce &
Industry (MICCI) is Malaysia's longest
established trade association.
The Chamber’s nearly 1000 corporate
members come from some 30 countries
including Malaysia, and represent all
business activities including manufacturing,
services and professionals.
Join us in 2012 as MICCI celebrates the
175th anniversary of its founding with a
series of business and social events
throughout the year for its members,
business colleagues and friends.
With these and other uncertainties impacting
business and investors confidence, can Malaysia’s
‘high income economy’ targets for growth and GNI
be achieved within the desired time frame?
Is there a need for additional government stimulus if
the private sector feels unable to commit to
substantial new investment?
These and other issues will be addressed at an
MICCI ‘Leaders Luncheon’ talk to be given by
Y.B Dato’ Sri Idris Jala.
As a major contributor to the game-changing New
Economic Model (NEM) and with a strong business
background, Dato’ Sri Idris Jala is ideally placed to
understand the pressures on the government’s
Economic Transformation Plan (ETP) and the steps
necessary to ensure its success despite the current
global economic and financial uncertainties.
Join other senior business leaders to hear this wellknown and authoritative speaker focus on the
challenges confronting Malaysia’s ambitious plans
for transformation.
