ROOF DECKING
This facility also manufactures:
Boise Cascade Engineered Wood Products
known for quality structural wood products,
now manufactures solid sawn roof decking in
Douglas Fir/Larch and Alaskan yellow cedar
(special order).
Solid sawn decking is center and endmatched with a sanded face and kiln-dried to
15% moisture content and less.
The decking is also available with a square
edge, or bullnose edge and/or rough-sawn face
in specified lengths up to 24 feet. The span
tables for the solid sawn decking are shown
here.
For Alaskan Yellow Cedar in wet-use decking
conditions, call Homedale sales for more
information.
Solid sawn decking serves as a structural
load carrying unit and, combined with laminated
beams and columns, provides a distinctive
wood deck ceiling in the traditional timber style.
• Laminated random length roof decking
• Long length roof decking
• Douglas Fir laminated wood beams
• Alaskan yellow cedar laminated wood
beams (special order).
Service and Shipment
Wood roof decking can be factory prefinished with a choice of Olympic, acrylic, or
other proprietary stains to enhance the wood
grain characteristics.
All Homedale solid sawn decking is subject
to strict quality controls. Orders can be shipped
direct to the job site or to distribution yard
facilities.

*Allowable uniform load is based on a load duration factor of 1.15 (snow) and dry service conditions. Effects of roof slope are not considered. Values
do not take into consideration slight section loss due to tongue and groove profile, beveled edges, and other manufacturing details, which may
reduce the section and resultant allowable values up to 2%. Long term deflection effects (creep) have not been taken into consideration in this table.
For loads based on deflection of L/360 or L/480, use ½ of L/180 or L/240 values, respectively.
**Controlled random layup — most economical system. Random deck is applied over three or more spans. Each piece must bear on at least one
support beam or joist. All end-joints shall be end-matched. End joints in adjacent planks shall be at least two feet apart. The end spans shall have
decking bearing on two supports for one out of three pieces of decking.
