Mt Suphan and Mt Ararat ski tour 11-day programme
This an Eleven Day Ski Tour taking in the two principle volcanic peaks of eastern Turkey, Mt Süphan and Mt Ararat. The first day will give an
opportunity to visit the sites of the city of Van including the spectacular Citadel. Day 2 starts your ski tour with an ascent of Mt Süphan with
the summit (4050m) on day 3. Ski descent and transfer to Dogubayazıt and Day 5, your ascent of Ararat. The summit of Ararat (5137m) is
day 8 and descent by ski. On day 9 local sightseeing including the hot springs at Diyadin before returning to Van on day 10 for a visit to
Akdamar Island and the Church of the Holy Cross.
Day 1: transfer from Van airport to the
hotel. After lunch, we visit Van castle.
Returning to the city, you will have some
free time then we meet for dinner.
Day 2: transfer to Mt Süphan, to the
campsite at 2600m. We pitch tents and
hot dinner will be served.
Day 3: start ascent at 5am by ski up to
3800m then we climb from there to the
summit of Mt Süphan (4050m) using
crampons. We return to the campsite and
stay there overnight.
Day 4: transfer from Mt Süphan to
Dogubayazıt. On the way, we'll get a first
glimpse at Mt Ararat. After lunch and
some rest in Dogubayazıt, we visit the
hamam. Accommodation is provided in a
3-star hotel.
Day 5: transfer from Dogubayazıt to
1800m of Mt Ararat by truck at 7am,
ascent to 2800m (1st camp) by crosscountry skiing (4 hours). We pitch tents
and hot food is served for dinner.
Day 6: Today, we continue our ascent on
Mt Ararat. start in the morning at 8am,
ski up to 3800m (2nd camp, 4 hours).

dinner.
spring in Diyadin, a perfect cure for tired
feet! We return to Dogubayazıt for
dinner.
Day 7: This day is dedicated to
acclimatisation to ensure the success of
your Mt Ararat climb. We start in the
morning at 8am, ski up to 4600m for
acclimatisation, then return to the 2nd
camp at 3800m. All-day cross-country
skiing. Hot food is served for dinner.
Day 10: transfer to Van, visiting Akdamar
Island. On the last night we stay in Van.
Day 8: This is the summit-day of your Mt
Ararat ski tour. We start at 5am, ascent
by ski up to 4700m, then climb (using
crampons) up to the summit (5137m).
We reach the summit Mt Ararat by about
10am. We return to the 2nd camp,
where hot soup and tea is served. After
some rest, we pack the tents and return
to 1800m by ski. There, the truck is
already waiting for us and takes us back
to the hotel in Dogubayazıt. Dinner in
Dogubayazıt.
Day 9: Still at the foot of Mt Ararat we
spend the morning on a Dogubayazıt
day-tour visiting Ishak pasha palace,
Noah's ark, the meteor crater. After lunch
in Dogubayazıt, we drive to the hot
