Preliminary Groups contain teams of all levels and teams will typically play two teams rated above them and two rated below. Individual matches within a tie are played best three of five and each team match itself is best five of nine matches. Friday’s results determine each team’s divisional placement, so Saturday and Sunday will be loaded with competitive matches. North American Teams is designed to provide players with the maximum number of matches against opponents of similar level. As a result, it is a true test of ability for all. In addition, due to the size of the tournament, players have a chance to play more matches than in any other tournament with three days of exposure to closely matched opponents.
