Competition breakdown: On Friday
teams are arranged in Preliminary Groups based on their initial ratings
and will play two, three, or four ties (team matches) against other teams
to confirm their playing level. Preliminary Groups contain teams of all
levels and teams will typically play two teams rated above them and two
rated below. Individual matches within a tie are
played best three of five and each team match
itself is best five of nine matches. Friday’s results
determine each team’s divisional placement,
so Saturday and Sunday will be loaded with
competitive matches. North American Teams is
designed to provide players with the maximum
number of matches against opponents of similar
level. As a result, it is a true test of ability for all. In addition, due to the size of
the tournament, players have
a chance to play more matches than in
any other tournament with three days of
exposure to closely matched opponents.

THE TEAMS TOURNAMENT
THE COMPETITION
For the 19th year in a row North American Table Tennis will host
the world’s largest annual team tournament. Every year since 1998 over 200
teams with almost 1000 players from five continents enter this
established thee-day event for a long weekend filled with competition,
friends, and family. For many it’s the highlight of the competitive year.
JOOLA provides approximately 140
high performance centerfold tables,
featuring the same table surface that
was used for the Olympics in Atlanta,
Sydney, and Athens, so you can be
certain that the equipment will be
of superior quality. Additional barriers
and rubberized flooring for Division
1 and Division 2 ensure optimal
playing conditions.

All USATT and ITTF rules and regulations will
be followed. JOOLA tables & net sets will
be used with JOOLA Flash white plastic
40mm three-star balls.Competitors may
NOT wear white shirts or shorts/skirts
during play.
For a four person team, the
qualifying rating is calculated
by taking the average of the
three lowest rated players. For a five person
team, the qualifying rating is calculated
by taking the average of the middle
three players. For example, if a team has
a qualifying rating of 1475, they cannot
have a player that is rated higher than
1875 on its team. Another example is if a
team has a qualifying rating of 2035; In this
case, the team cannot have a player that
is rated higher than 2335. Please note that
the Tournament Committee reserves the
right to adjust these limits where necessary.
Ratings from October 7th will be used for
these calculations. In addition, most recent
ratings will be used for seeding purposes.
The Tournament Committee reserves the
right to change the seeding of a team
if one of its players only plays in Friday’s
preliminary rounds. A false accounting will
subject the team to disqualification from
any prizes.
