VST and VLSC November 21-22 Camp Tranquility, Oak Mountain State Park Venturing Specific Training (VST) for adults AND Venturing Leadership Skills Course (VLSC) for youth to be offered concurrently in November. For the first time these two Venturing courses will be offered in the same location at the same time to benefit new adult and youth Venturing leaders. This is the perfect opportunity for complete Crews (Youth and Adults) to receive training on their own levels. Shelby District will be hosting this groundbreaking event at Camp Tranquility in Oak Mountain State Park. The dates are November 21-22. Registration for these training opportunities is now open through November 13th. Birmingham After Dark Friday, December 4, 2009 Birmingham, Alabama This night of activities will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4 with a brief orientation and registration period. Birmingham After Dark will end at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, December 4 at the Charles T. Clayton Service Center. The cost is $16.00 per person and should be paid by mail or in person at the Charles T. Clayton Service Center by the registration deadline of November 13. Transportation for the event is included in the fee. Extra money for food and incidental expenses should be brought with you. All other fees and costs are paid through the registration fee. This activity is open to any registered Venturer or Adult Advisor. COST The registration fee is $16.00 per person which will cover the cost of transportation, insurance and activities. Tour will include: Brookwood Medical Center, 117th Refueling Wing (Aviation), Emergency Management Agency (EMA), Birmingham Zoo, Birmingham Water Works, Montclair Hospital, Alabama Power Company, CBS 42, Fox 6 News, ABC 33 / 40 News, Birmingham News Winterfest February 5 - 7, 2010 Gatlinburg, Tennessee Winterfest is a competitive-event and leadership training weekend held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee every year. In 2010, Winterfest will take place February 5—7. Winterfest has occurred every year for more than 30 years! In 2009, more than 2,300 participants converged on Gatlinburg for a great weekend of fun, events, and fellowship. The fee for the weekend event is $175.00 per participant which will cover transportation, lodging , competition and conference fees. What Can You Expect? Dances Friday and Saturday night Competitive Events*: Target Shooting, Mock Trial, Talent Show, Sea Scout Events Volleyball & Water Basketball, Engineering Design, Basic First Aid, Advanced Emergency Medical, Prusik Rope Climbing, Snow Skiing, Backpacking Cooking, Dutch Oven Cooking, Tabletop Displays. Beach Blast April 16 - 18, 2010 Panama City Beach, Florida Come for a weekend of learning or sharpening up your aquatics skills, fellowship and fun. We will be staying at the Laguna Beach Christian Retreat in Panama City Beach. Space will be very limited so please register as soon as possible. Registration deadline is April 2, 2010. The weekend will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, April 16, 2010, when we depart and end on Sunday evening when we return, approximately 6:00 p.m. COST: $100.00 per youth participant for the weekend event. This fee will cover lodging, transportation, and activity fees. ACTIVITIES: Beach Competitions (Volleyball, Swimming, Frisbee, Note: There will be no Venturing –specific activities at the Beach Blast; Venturers are welcome to come and enjoy the beach! Basketball, Beach Party, Free Time and more... High Adventure Race April 30– May 2, 2010 Camp Comer, Mentone, Alabama Come for a weekend of rappelling, climbing, canoeing, and other outdoor activities. Cost and how to register: The registration fee for the event is $50.00 per youth and $30.00 per leader, which will cover the cost of meals and program supplies and t-shirt for youth. Each unit will stay in the campsites and Adirondacks. Deadline for registration is April 16th, 2010. White Water Rafting May 8, 2010 Ocoee River, Tennessee Come for a day of white water river rafting, fellowship and fun on the Ocoee River. We will depart for the Ocoee River at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010. Space will be limited so please register as soon as possible. Registration deadline is April 16. Transportation for this event will depart from the Charles T. Clayton Service Center located in Birmingham. We will return to the local Scout Office approximately 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening.
