The heating element shall be of the sealed tubular type with large, parallel steel fins for quick heat transfer. Unit shall have as standard, a thermal overload cutoff for added safety, fan delay switch and a builtin tamperproof thermostat which shall be calibrated to provide a range of 55°F. to 85°F. and manual disconnect switch. Optional accessories shall include a surface mounting adapter, day-night relays. All heaters shall be listed by Underwriter's Laboratories, Inc. BRASCH CEILING Heaters Recess • Surface • T-Bar Versatile application Large volume of comfortably warm air is produced by a whisper-quiet heater. Ideal for residential, commercial and industrial locations where wall and floor applications are not feasible. Quiet Operation Because of the extremely quiet operation, the BCH may be used in restaurants, nursing homes, schools and lobbies. They draw in large volumes of air and discharge heated air downward into the needed areas. These heaters feature the vane axial fan that has proven to be successful in other products. Brasch Baseboards are available in both ivory and white - add suffix w to model number for white. ■ Quick connect cable clamps are located in right and left junction boxes to restrain incoming field wiring without the need for additional hardware. ■ All baseboards are only 6" high and extend 2 1/2" from the wall making the Brasch Baseboard heater one of the most compact baseboard heaters on the market. ■ All baseboards are constructed with a full length wireway along the back of the heater. An optional wireway cover can be ordered when specification calls for an enclosed wireway. ■ Integral thermostats use the junction box cover plate on the baseboard heater. This eliminates the need for stocking different colors of built-in thermostats. ■ A 6" ground lead wire is provided in both right and left junction boxes allowing for easier ground connection. ■ The Brasch Baseboard has long-lasting stainless steel element rod with its aluminum chimney designed fins. The fins are mechanically staked to the element rod to allow excellent transfer and dissipation of heat from the heater into the room. By using a stainless steel rod, the hum associated with other models on the market is eliminated. ■ An over-temperature thermal limit extends the entire length of the heated area to serve as a safety device in case of an air flow blockage in front of heater. ■ All units have 20 gauge junction boxes at both ends of the heater. BRASCH Electrical CABINET UNIT Heaters The Brasch Cabinet Unit Heater (BCUH) is ideal for commercial and institutional applications such as offices, stores, schools, churches and entry ways. Standard units include a disconnect switch, built-in 24 volt thermostat and disposable air filters but the Brasch Cabinet Unit Heater can also be customized to meet your most demanding applications. All units have a beige powder coated finish over an 18 ga. steel housing that is 9 1⁄2" deep and 25" high and are manufactured with steel sheathed finned tubular elements with full-length thermal protection. Controls • Choice of eight control options include, built-in or wall mounted thermostats (24 or 120 volt) with built-in control transformer, as needed. • Independently adjustable heat settings (high / low) and fan motor speeds (1550 / 1400 rpm) are standard, except 480 volt units have a single fan speed. • Power interrupt options include either a circuit breaker or disconnect switch, except only circuit breakers can be used on heaters that draw over 48 amps. • Optional summer fan switch. Mounting & Flow Configurations • Mounting options include surface, semi-recessed or fully-recessed; on walls or ceilings; and upright or inverted. • Air flow can be configured in any combination of intake and output through the top, bottom or front. The BWUH Series is made with all built-in controls and safety temperature controls wired in a non-metallic Nema 4x control panel with single-point power connections. 9 Standard Features: Options Sample Specification ■ Up to 48 KW ■ Teflon anodized aluminum fan blade (3-30 kw only) The electric unit heater shall be Brasch BWUH Series rated for washdown applications and shall include built-in controls. Heaters shall be UL Listed assemblies containing all limits and controls as required by UL specifications. Controls shall be housed in a Nema 4x non-metallic control enclosure fixed to bottom of unit heater. The control enclosure will open from bottom for ease of installation and service. They tolerate continuous spraying with water, high humidity, airborne contaminates and moderately corrosive conditions. The nickel plated sensing bulb is attached directly to the bottom of the case where it is shielded from damage or accumulators of insulating particles. The molded Noryl case is sealed at the cover with a neoprene gasket and the adjusting knob opening is closed with a lubricated 0 ring. Underwriters Laboratories has tested the T109 and found it meets the requirement for NEMA 4x enclosures. 12 Raintight Industrial Thermostat High levels of accuracy and sensitivity are provided by the T109. Switching is done by heavy duty, precision, snap action switches. Setting is accomplished by rotating the adjusting knob. The dial face is printed with large contrasting numbers and letters on a lustrous background for good visibility. Force and motion for switch actuation are provided by changes in temperature expanding or contracting the fluid contained with the sensing bulb and transmitted hydraulically and through an appropriate linkage to the switch operator. Color coding clearly identifies the function of each conductor. Heaters shall be UL listed for Class I, Group D, Divisions 1 & 2 and Class II, Groups E, F and G, Divisions 1 & 2, UL temperature code shall be T3B (165°C) for Class 1, and T3B (165°C) for Class II, indicating maximum operating surface temperatures. Heat exchangers shall be heavy walled, liquid filled, with three, low watt density, immersion type copper sheathed elements hermetically sealed into the core along with the high limit thermal cut-out. Heat transfer fluid shall be ethylene-glycol solution, protected to -45°C (-49°F). Motors shall be PSC, explosion-proof, permanently lubricated, ball bearing type, 1725 rpm. Contactors shall be built-in and pre-wired into an explosion-proof enclosure. Contactors shall be heavy duty and break all ungrounded conductors and be rated for 100,000 cycles at full load. Control transformers shall be built-in and pre-wired. Control circuits shall be 24 volt. Cabinet shall be 14 gauge cold rolled steel, epoxy coated plated fan guard shall have less than 1/4 inch spacing to conform with OSHA requirements. All fasteners shall be zinc plated. DBT is designed for wall mounting with bottom inlet and top outlet but pedestals can be supplied for floor mounting. These heaters have a 7" x 5" profile with a snap-fit extruded aluminum enclosure and a 10 ga. aluminum backplate. The DBCF is available with up to 650 watts per foot of heating and the DBCT with up to 750 watts per foot of heating. DBCF is designed for floor mounting with front inlet and top outlet. Increase the length of the heater enclosure by 6" or 12" when using a control section. Enclosure covers, louvers and end caps will snap-fit together without screws or fasteners for easy maintenance. Wallmounted units shall have pre-punched slots for quick installation. Pedestal and 22 6" x 7" mullion-to-mullion units to have solid finished backs without slots. Standard backed acrylic bronze or optional painted or anodized finish will be provided in architectural colors as scheduled. Provide full length linear thermal cutout with automatic reset on all units to prevent overheating from blocked airflow. Provide built-in EMT raceway with factory wiring and 3/4" knockouts on side and rear of junction boxes at each end. Heater to accept field wiring at either end when optional controls are not included. Blank sections shall be fully enclosed for branch circuit wiring. Heating elements shall be aluminum sheath with mechanically bonded fins to maximize heat transfer and limit fin temperatures to 330°F. Elements shall be centered in freefloating nylon bushings for quiet operation. Per schedule, controls include single or double pole thermostats, disconnect switches, and relays. Thermostats shall be adjustable (tamperproof ) through discharge louver. Separate control sections shall include factory mounted PE switches, mercury contactors, circuit breakers and control transformers (as scheduled). Accessories shall include end caps, wall trim, splice plates, inside and outside corners, and blank sections of matching material for visual continuity. Limited Warranty All Brasch Manufacturing Company, Inc. products covered in this bulletin are warranted against defects in workmanship and materials for one year from date of purchase. This warranty does not apply to damage from accident, misuse or alteration; nor where the connected voltage is more than 5% above product nameplate voltage; nor to equipment improperly installed or wired or maintained in violation of installation instructions. This warranty is valid only in the fifty states of the United States. No other written or oral warranty applies. No employee, agent, dealer or other person is authorized to extend warranty on behalf of Brasch Manufacturing Company. The customer shall be responsible for all costs incurred in the removal or reinstallation and shipping of the product for repairs. Inoperative units should be returned to Brasch, attention of Service Manager for repair or replacement at our option. Product will be returned freight prepaid.
