M
y son, Alex, enrolled in Ucan’s test
prep and college planning program as a sophomore. Alejandro had an
important
advantage
starting the test prep and
admission process early
dramatically increased
his chances of success. With the help of highly
trained coaches, my son improved rapidly. He
went from a 2080 to a 2290 on his recent March
2007 SAT tests. Additionally, with the ongoing strategic guidance of Jonathan and Melody
Mitchell, my son’s chances of being admitted to
the top schools in the nation have been significantly optimized. I am so grateful to have found
this unique program with its impressive track record and guaranteed test score gains. I strongly
recommend Ucan Prep and Ucan Plan to any parent or student serious about test prep and college admission success!
Tony Plana (Mr. Plana is a star in the ABC TV smash
hit “Ugly Betty”) His son Alex, a Loyola alumni,
was admitted to Yale, Stanford and Princeton.
R
amona Convent’s principal and I are thrilled
to offer Ucan’s SAT prep and college admission program to our community. After considering various test prep organizations, we decided
to offer Ucan’s test prep services to parents and
students of Ramona Convent because of this
program’s impressive and proven track record.
The Ucan has our highest endorsement and we
strongly recommend that you take advantage of
their test prep program.

M
y family is very pleased with the performance of ours sons on the SAT after taking classes at UCAN Prep. UCAN made everything a good experience, and worked with our
schedule to prep the boys for the SAT. The boys’
respective scores each increased 200 points,
and we were very pleased with the results on
the SAT.

Cherie Raidy (Cameron and Christopher are

S
hortly before I came to Ucan, I received my PSAT results. I scored a 182, which placed me just inside the “maybe”
range for some UCs, and way outside the range for some of the Ivies to which I wanted to apply. Through the
skilled and knowledgeable coaching of my ucan coaches, I brought this score up to a 2090, a 270 point increase. Also,
there is no doubt in my mind that without Ucan’s college planning program I would not have received acceptances to
UCLA, UC Berkeley, NYU, the University of Pennsylvania, Notre Dame, and Brown University.

I
gotta just say that Ucan is an amazing college prep place. At first before I came to, I had some doubts about
myself, and I did not know where to
go with the whole college application
process. And then my parents enrolled
me in the ucan program. Everyone was
helpful, my math SAT instructor Taner,
Jonathan with the Critical Reading was
amazing at it, and Margit, who does not only the SAT writing, but also helps with the college essays was a superb
helper. You know, Jonathan, and the whole Ucan family
lpackaged my application perfectly and I got accepted to
John Hopkins University under early decision and this
made me so happy. And I can’t thank enough Ucan. I feel
I learned a lot from this experience not just college planning but also about mindset, how to focus, especially
Critical Reading. I thank my family and Ucan for everything that has happened to me and for all my successes.
Patrick Young (San Marino, class of 2011. Patrick was accepted to Johns Hopkins; UC Berkeley, USC)
W
e cannot thank Jonathan, Taner and the staff at
UCAN enough for the outstanding job that they
did in assisting with my son’s application process. I had
to go out of town unexpectedly right in the middle of the
process and right before finals. It was suggested that I
contact UCAN and I cannot express how impressed I am
with Jonathan and his fantastic staff. They set up timelines, reviewed essays, provided additional help preparing
for finals, filling out the applications and followed up with
phone calls and emails. They are a very professional organization and I recommend them highly.
Susan McIntosh (Her son Scott, a Loyola alumni, was admitted into his first choice, Notre Dame)
W
hile I’m sure there were varied
reasons why my son, Jonathan
Rossi, was admitted into Harvard College, I feel that the SAT preparation that
he received from UCAN Prep was vital to
his success. They worked around his frenetic schedule (with its countless football
practices) to set him up in a small group
of academic peers where he could learn not only from his
teachers, but from the feedback of the other students as
well. For all of these reasons, I highly recommend UCAN’s
SAT preparation to any student who is serious about
doing well. Jonathan’s older brother utilized the program
offered by Ivy West, but I can say without hesitation that
UCAN Prep was by far the better program.“
Nancy Rossi

200 SAT points, scored 2100 and was admitted to Harvard).

T
o put it plain and simple, UCAN helped me prepare for my ACT enormously. My verbal coach helped my English score jump from a 28 to
a 34 (woohoo!) and my Reading score from a 26 to a 28 while my math coach helped boost my Math and Science scores by two points
each! Also, Lisa and Jonathan were awesome aids in my college application process. Lisa helped me strengthen my writing skills and helped
me understand how to write a real college essay - the kind that knocks your socks off. Jonathan helped me stay on top of all my due dates
and go that extra mile in creative ways on my applications that the colleges really want to see. I’m so thankful I used UCAN for both my ACT
test prep and my college applications.
Katherine Sears (Mayfield Senior was accepted to her top college pick American University)
We are so happy with our son’s SAT score.
Glen got a 2330. Ben and Faye Gunawan (Glen is a La Salle alumni. He was admitted to UC Berkeley and UCLA).
H
ey Mr. Mitchell,
Things went very well! Overall, I was 9 for my 12 schools. I got into SMU, Villanova, USD, Santa Clara, UCSB, Boston University, LMU, Fordham, and
Tulane. I got money from all of the schools except Villanova and UCSB. As of right now I am going to take Tulane, as they have a strong pre-law, I love
New Orleans, and I got $20,000 a year for community service and grades! I am so excited and happy with my results and can’t thank you enough for
everything! Sincerely,
Ryan Woodruff (Ucan and Loyola alumni).
Vanessa Martinez, Ucan Senior, Raises Her Score From A 1950 to 2190 in Just A Few Weeks Before October 2010 SAT Test
And Uses Ucan’s College Planning And Admission Strategies To Get Into Harvard, Notre Dame, UPenn and USC.
S
AT’s can be scary. I walked into the room for my first test with palms sweaty, legs shaking, and heart fluttering. I was extremely
nervous. When I received my score, I was a little relieved. I figured I would take it a second time to see if I could improve. I didn’t.
I did worse! I couldn’t understand it. How do I do better?
UCAN answered that question. They outlined techniques, showed me strategies, and gave me invaluable tips. Having taken the SAT twice,
I thought I knew the test. It turned out there was a lot I didn’t know; UCAN enlightened me. They were always ready to answer questions, always willing to adapt to my schedule, and most importantly always there to cheer me on. There were times that I thought,
Am I going to reach my goal? I would simply walk into class and be reassured, feeling like I could accomplish anything. After countless
practice essays, math questions, and long readings, I felt confident as I went to take the October SAT. But the SAT’s are only half the battle. Even if I get a 2400
on the SAT and have all the qualities and characteristics that colleges are looking for, how do I present that information in my essays, and short answers,
and activity lists? UCAN’s college planning really provided the insights on how to package the information, providing deadlines that would keep me
organized and ahead of schedule. I almost can’t express how thankful I am to UCAN for giving me the opportunity to get into the college of my dreams
and achieve the future I’ve always wanted.
Vanessa Martinez (Ramona Convent class of 2011. She scored 2190 on the October SAT)
A
Aubrey Walker, Polytechnic’s ASB CLASS President Deploys Ucan Test Prep And College Admission Strategies To Get Into Harvard.
fter receiving a 191 on the PSAT, I committed myself to studying to surpass my goal of 2,000. In order to study for the March 2010 test, I bought a
prep book to familiarize myself with each section. On this test however, I only received a 1950.
I started late with UCAN after a busy summer, but I was still able to increase my scores. The phenomenal tutors help to elaborate on the ins and
outs of the test. You are in an environment where everyone around you wants to learn. Most importantly, you cultivate a mindset in which the SAT test
becomes fun. Yes, FUN! With countless practice tests, I went into the test relaxed and confident. Because of UCAN, the test seemed only to be an expression of my preparation, and had I been prepared well! As a result, I surpassed my goal on the October SAT with a 750 in Critical Reading! So many of
my friends had also prepped in an attempt to do better on the SAT their second time around. Many of them received the same score, or even got a lower
score. UCAN guarantees an improvement, one which I am proud to have achieved.
With UCAN’s college assistance, I was kept on track to finish my early applications. My essays were able to be reviewed and edited for syntax
so that the content could truly shine. In addition, a comprehensive resume was created that helped to not only recall all of my extracurricular activities
but also to explain their greater significance and how they related to my character. This supplement was not only beneficial for the college process, but
was a lifesaver to be used later for scholarship applications as well. Without UCAN, I would not have been as hopeful and confident as I am about applying
for colleges and scholarships.
