New Museum Of Liverpool exhibition
On the 19th July the new Museum of
Liverpool opened it’s doors putting QVC
firmly in the spotlight! QVC was chosen to
feature in an exhibit entitled, ‘21st Century QVC Shopping’.
Liverpool has attracted new kinds of
business to the area, and QVC Knowsley is
seen as a great example of a new
generation business, providing new
employment opportunities. This is a
fantastic achievement for us, and the first
time QVC UK has been showcased in a
museum.
A film crew visited Knowsley last year, to
take some footage of our people, across the
site, to use in the exhibit, which also
displays a L’Occitane product and some of
the tools of our trade. Sandra Nixon, HR
Development & Training Manager, who
features in the footage and has been with
QVC since day one, 17 years ago, said: “I
feel really privileged to be asked to take
part and I’m proud that QVC are being
recognised in such a way. “This is a
testament to all of the people who work
here, who make the business the success
that it is today and for creating a great
place to work.” The Museum was officially
opened by local lad, Finn O’Hare, aged 5,
after he wrote to museum bosses to tell
In July, a handful of top spenders were
invited to the Richard Ward Brand
Workshop. The event ran over 2
sessions and offered guests the chance
to browse the new Seasons Summer
Protect Collection alongside other
Richard Ward products.
Richard Ward Brand Workshop
The highlight of the day was when each
guest was treated to a one-on-one hair
consultation with a member of the Richard
Ward team. Customers were advised on the
best products to suite their hair type and
the most effective application methods.
They were then given a new look by the
Richard Ward Stylists using the products
recommended.
Refreshments were served throughout and
guests were given a tour of the QVC
studios. At the end of the event, they were
all presented with a generous goody bag.
Facebook Winning
On the 7th July, QVC selected 8 Winners
for a competition featured on
Facebook; their prize included talking
about their favourite products on
camera alongside a QVC presenter.
Beforehand, they received professional
coaching from Tina, Julian and Simon.
At the end of the session, they were
given a DVD of their
performances and a
very generous goody
bag.

GOK WAN
JOE MCELDERRY
One of the nation's most
popular fashion experts, Gok
Wan, graced QVC Towers with
his presence during the week
of the 27th June. He's known
for presenting TV shows 'How
to look good naked', 'Gok's
fashion fix' and 'Miss naked
beauty' - teaching us all how to
look and feel great!
However, Gok wasn't always
the confident person that we
all know him for. His new
autobiography 'Through thick
and thin' reveals how he
bounced back from difficult
teenage years and what
inspired him to help women
become more confident in
themselves.
X-Factor winner Joe McElderry
popped into QVC studios on
the 19th August to perform two
of his songs 'Della Terra' and
'Time to Say Goodbye' from his
new album 'Classic'.
Fresh off winning the second
series of ITV show 'Popstar to
Operastar', the 20-year-old
singing sensation has decided
on a change of direction in
terms of music and is releasing
an album of classical songs.
In 2009, Joe won the hearts of
the British nation as he won
the sixth series of ITV show
'The X Factor' at age 19. He
scored a number-one hit with
his first song 'The Climb' and
released his album 'Wide
Awake' in the same year.
Gok talked to QVC about his
inspirations, his new book and
shares some style tips too

QVC Star Appeal
Dolly Parton
Did you catch our interview with
legendary singer Dolly Parton on
the 2nd September? We met Dolly
so she could talk to us about her
new CD album, ‘Better Day’ and her
‘Live From London’ DVD which was
taken from her most recent world
tour at the O2 in London.
Dolly is undoubtedly one of the
most successful female artists in
American history and she’s more
than earned her title of “The Queen
of Country Music” with a whopping
25 number-one singles.
Her straight-talking, no-messing
character is almost as iconic as the
songs she sings ('9 to 5', 'Jolene', 'I
Will Always Love You' to name a
few) and we can’t wait to hear
what she says.
The single was written by Guy
Chambers (famed for Robbie
Williams ‘Angel’) and the hugely
popular Taio Cruz, and it
has already had an amazing
reaction from fans on his national
arena tour.
JOHN WILSON ORCHESTRA
The orchestra was formed in 1994
and since then they've achieved
international critical acclaim,
performing at the 'BBC Proms' as
well as on 'Parkinson' and they've
collaborated with Sir Paul
McCartney as well.
Matthew performed a track from
their new deluxe album 'That's
Entertainment - A Celebration of
MGM Film Musical (Luxury Edition)',
which contains renditions of some
of your most loved Hollywood
music such as 'Singin' in the Rain'
and 'An American in Paris'.
The CD features some brand new,
never-heard-before tracks, while
the DVD showcases all Dolly's bestknown hits that she performed at
her shows on the 5th and 6th July.
On the 30th August we had soprano
and classical singer Hayley
Westenra performing live in the
QVC studios. Hayley was
performing the singles 'Gabriel's
Oboe' and 'Cinema Paradiso' from
her stunning new album Paradiso
with Enio Morricone.
Calling all Peter Andre fans! Peter
launched his brand new single,
'Perfect Night' . Peter appeared live
on QVC throughout the week of
the 27th June to perform his track
and to tell us all about it!
!
Did you catch the legendary John
Wilson Orchestra on QVC 31st
August? John Wilson himself came
in today and soloist Matthew Ford
performed 'Heather on the Hill' live
in the studio.
Talking about her new album
‘Better Day’, the seven-time
Grammy winner says “I wanted to
do an album that would be very
uplifting and positive, as well as
inspirational… Times are hard all
over. I think people need to feel
better and I thought ‘Better Day’
was a perfect title because it says
‘hope’”.

July was Beauty Month on QVC. To celebrate, We gave
one Celebs On Sunday reader the chance to win a
complete makeover with a team of beauty experts. That
included hair at the award winning Richard Ward Hair &
Metrospa, an Elemis SpaPod Power Booster Facial, an OPI
Manicure and make-up by mineral make-up brand Bare
Escentuals.
July Beauty Month brought customers fab beauty brands
and their experts throughout the month.
In celebration of our July Beauty Month, we
commissioned a survey of over 2,000 women to look at
beauty and how it affects us – are we really a nation of
beauty addicts?
One of the most revealing statistics to come from the
survey was that on average, women think about how
they look nine times a day. 4% of those questioned also
admitted that they thought about their appearance at
least once every half an hour.
So how dedicated are you to your beauty routines?
According to our survey, one in four Brits admit to
!
reapplying their make-up every two-to-three hours.
Whilst one in seven British women state that their beauty
regime is the first thing they think about every morning.
It also revealed that going for a job interview topped the
list of situations where women most felt conscious of
their appearance, whilst going on a night out or on a
date followed close behind. Surprisingly, the results also
showed that women felt more conscious about looking
good for other women than they do for the opposite sex.
The survey also showed some interesting things in terms
of our beauty regimes. One in five women admitted
to copying their mother's beauty regime, whilst one in
eight has continued to stick with said same routine. Does
this mean we really do turn into our mothers?
There were also some interesting facts concerning ages
and locations! It turns out that it's the younger
generation who are more image conscious, one in twelve
of under 25 year olds admit that they think about how
they look at least once an hour compared to only 1% of
over 55 year olds.
