Hospital System
For more than 50 years, Allen Bennett Memorial Hospital has
cared for the Greer community. As part of Greenville Hospital
System and the Upstate’s only university medical center, they provide
many healthcare, wellness, and support programs. To better serve
this growing area, Greenville Hospital System is expanding its Greer
Medical Campus. The new campus, located near State 14 and South
Buncombe Road, is being developed in four phases. The first phase
is Cottage at Brushy Creek where residents will live in home-like
cottages using a family model of care. This innovative nursing home
facility, already under way, should open fall 2006. The second phase
is Greer Memorial Hospital. This 68-bed structure includes eight
maternity suites and six ICU beds, along with the same medicalsurgical and emergency services currently provided. Construction
has started and will be completed late 2007. Medical offices will
begin this year and a medically- based fitness facility will complete
the park-like campus.
Currently guided and supported by the mission of the Sisters of Bon
Secours, St. Francis Health System was founded in 1932 by the
Franciscan sisters. This is a community of caregivers who are dedicated to bringing compassion to health care and good help to those
in need. They are committed to bringing compassion to health care
and wholeness through the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. Their
facilities include St Francis Hospital, St Francis Women’s and Family,
St Francis Outpatient Center and Patewood Surgery Center. They
have 319 beds and approximately 2000 employees
