Thursday 15. September 2016: Home to Tamworth We pick you up from home this morning and travel north along the M1 and New England Highway to Tamworth. On the way we will be stopping for lunch and a tour of the beautiful Singleton Mercy Convent. Here we will learn about the journey of the Sisters of Mercy from Ireland to the Hunter Valley. The Convent is set in spacious gardens creating a unique atmosphere of peace and tranquility. After lunch we continue our journey north through Scone passing by the many horse studs and farms in the district. Overnight accommodation in Tamworth B/fast, Lunch & Dinner Day 2. Friday 16 September 2016 Tamworth to Toowoomba This morning after breakfast we travel through Armidale and Glen Innes to Tenterfield, enjoying morning tea on the way. We visit the Sir Henry Parkes School of Arts where Sir Henry Parkes delivered his famous “Birth of a Nation” speech in 1889. Here we will enjoy lunch before a rendition of the speech by “Sir Henry” himself. After lunch we travel over the Queensland border to Warwick on the Darling Downs passing by the Jack Howe Memorial before setting into our accommodation Accommodation for the next three nights is in Toowoomba B/fast & Dinner Day 3. Saturday 17 September 2016 Carnival of Flowers Parade Today we start a City sights driving tour taking in a variety of tourist attractions. A drive through Picnic Point Park where there have been 145 bird species recorded within the park’s natural bushlands. The park is situated on a scenic peak of the Great Diving Range and has stunning view of the Lockyer Valley to the east, the City of Toowoomba and farming lands to the west. After the opportunity to buy your own lunch in town, there will be time to browse the stalls and shops prior to taking our reserved seats for the Grand Central Floral Parade. It is the perfect position to view the various floats, full of flowers, marching bands, stilt walkers and local cultural communities in traditional costumes. Overnight accommodation in Toowoomba B/fast, Lunch & Dinner Day 4, Sunday 18 September 2016 Gardens and Attractions The Tour today is of the Prize Winning Gardens. Our guide will take us to the gardens both large and small that have won an award in this year’s gardening competition. The competition is judged the week prior to the Parade There will be an opportunity to purchase souvenirs and plants at most gardens. Our lunch today is catered for by the Orchid Society. After lunch there will be time to view and purchase award winning Orchids. Overnight accommodation in Toowoomba B/fast, Lunch & Dinner Day 5 Monday 19 September 2016 Toowoomba to Tamworth After breakfast we bid farewell to Toowoomba and return down the New England Highway to the Land of the Beardies History Museum for a tour and lunch stopping for morning tea on the way. Occupying the original Glen Innes Hospital, the Land Of The Beardies History House Museum and Research Centre showcases the history of Glen Innes and District with exhibits in over 25 rooms and outdoor areas. Overnight accommodation in Tamworth Breakfast & Lunch Day 6 Tuesday 20 September 2016 Tamworth to Home We make a leisurely start to our tour back home to Sydney stopping for morning tea in Scone at the Mare and Foal Park. Lunch today is at the Ourimba RSL Club before saying goodbye after a wonderful tour to the Carnival of Flowers in Toowoomba with Brian and Mary from Ezi Drive Coaches.
