IDFA Forum Producer’s Guide Observers and Their Projects Welcome Dear Guests, In addition to IDFA and the Forum’s other publications, this year we’re introducing the IDFA Forum Producer’s Guide for the very first time. This is a booklet that lists all the producers who are attending the Forum as observers, their projects (either in development or production), and the countries they would like to co-produce with. Our goal in publishing it is to help producer-observers raise their profile and that of their projects. With this booklet, the daily Producers’ Breakfasts and the Co-Production Summit, which is taking place on November 26, we hope to contribute to better networking opportunities for producers and directors in attendance. Creating fruitful collaborations can only happen if these individuals meet one another and get to know and appreciate each other’s work. Each November, Amsterdam is the center of the documentary world, a meeting place where new films and film plans are shared and other plans are born. We hope that this booklet will help you find the right documentary partners, both now and in the future! Wishing you a wonderful IDFA and Forum! The Congo Tribunal: Triggered by the Rwandan genocide in 1994, based on direct or indirect involvement of all great powers of our time, the Congo war, also referred to as the Third Wold War, has claimed up to 6 million deaths. Many observers not only see in it a fight about political predominance in Central Afrika, but also one of the most decisive economical division-battles in the era of globalization. May the number of involved Rebel Armies be inscrutable - even more intransparent are the arms dealers operating in supply lines, the role of foreign diplomates and humanitarian relief organizations but also the inextricability of multi-national mining companies. Does one of the biggest and bloodiest economic wars of human history decide the future order of the global community? The film The Congo Tribunal examines the causes and backgrounds for this, now almost 20 years ongoing war in the area of the great lakes on the basis of a tribunal, on-site in eastern Congo. The result will be a human-shattering, profound analytic tableau of the neo-colonial world system. Who are the persons behind the mask? How do they influence fans from around the globe? The worlds strongest little brother: The filmmaker, Christian, experienced that his two year younger brother, Andreas, was stronger than him even before they attended school. He was the only kid in the street who got his ass kicked by a little brother. And it only got worse. Andreas grew up to become double olympic gold medalist in javelin and the natural star of the Thorkildsen family. Christian is worried that Andreas isn´t prepared for a life after the glory. The olympic games in Rio 2016 will be Andreas final competition and Christian has made a promise to himself to change his brother and their relation before it is too late.
