If you are successful in swimming the full 87 miles by December 24th you will receive a YMCA water bottle, perfect for pool side use. This is for members only. Registration: September 7-November 20 Fee: $10 CIRCLE SWIMMING What is Circle Swimming? Circle Swimming is basically Follow the Leader and is used when there are 2 or more swimmers wanting to use the same lane. Always check with the other swimmer(s) to let them know you would like to circle swim. After getting the go ahead, enter the water. Always swim on the right side of the lane. Be sure not to swim over the black line, as this will be used as a sort of passing lane. For safety reasons, leave a 5-10 second interval between you and the swimmer in front of you. If you need to pass the swimmer in front of you, carefully check for oncoming swimmers. Then swim out and around and back in to your lane quickly, always checking for oncoming swimmers, as they have the right of way. When you get to the wall to turn, do so quickly and get off to the right side of the lane. If you stop to rest get as far into the corner of the lane as possible and watch out for your fellow swimmers. POOCHIE PLUNGE Confused?
