Gouverneur & County Fair July 31 To Aug. 5
GOUVERNEUR - An American Idol finalist Aaron Kelly will open this year’s
Gouverneur & St. Lawrence County Fair
in the grandstand with a concert on July
31 at 8 p.m.
This year’s fair, which takes place July
31 to Aug. 5, will also feature a monster
truck and cycle show and a Super Modified Tractor Pull.
Fair President Donald Peck expressed
excitement about this year’s new-andimproved county fair.
“The Gouverneur and St. Lawrence
County Fair Directors and volunteers
have been busy in an effort to improve
the facility and make the fair even greater than before. Fair goers will find a new
handicap parking lot and ramp which will
make getting to the grandstand a breeze.
The agricultural area has been expanded,
there is a new area dedicated to local entertainment, and the home arts display
has been enlarged,” said Mr. Peck.
As in years past, the fair will sport a 4-H
theme with numerous shows featuring
a variety of animals. Also, the 4-H Youth
Building will be open all day.
The fair and its midway rides provided
by Coleman Brothers officially opens
Aug. 1 at 1 p.m.
Harness racing will get underway at
noon in the grandstand. Capping off the

A Message From The Fair President
This year marks the 161th anniversary of the St. Lawrence County Fair
and the 154rd year for the Gouverneur Agricultural & Mechanical Society.
The Gouverneur and St. Lawrence County Fair Directors and volunteers
have been busy in an effort to improve the facility and make the fair even
greater than before. Fair goers will find a much improved auto gate with a
new building, new fencing, improved flower gardens and more. There is
also a new look to the judges stand, grandstand, and a new handicap ramp
under the grandstand. The agricultural area has been expanded, and there
is a new area dedicated to local entertainment.
We will have free daily grounds acts this year which should also be real
crowd pleasers for all ages. Animal Tales with animals from A to Z plus free
zoo and camel rides will provide three shows daily. Sylvia and Her Magic
Trunk Show will have the audience laughing as the ventriloquist brings a
number of characters in her trunk to life. Sylvia will perform three daily
shows.
This year’s midway promises to be bigger and better with Coleman
Brothers adding new children’s and adult rides. To many, the fair officially
begins when the carnival rides start, so be here at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July
31. Wristband Days will be offered again this year, so pay one price and
ride for several hours. Coleman Brothers offers fun for everyone, so try
your hand at some of the games of skill.
As usual, there will be a variety of food vendors offering something to
tickle everyone’s pallet.
Daily highlights of the fair are as follows:
July 31, Tuesday - NY Sire Stakes Harness Racing will take place at the
grandstand with post time at noon. After the dust has settled, Texas Show
Down will entertain the grandstand crowd at 7 p.m.; followed by Aaron
Kelly of American Idol fame at 8 p.m.
Aug. 1, Wednesday - Band Day starts at 1:30 p.m., with Carlton Peck
Awards to follow. Then at 7 p.m. the ever-popular Firemen’s Parade begins.
Aug. 2, Thursday - The Local Talent Show was a tremendous hit last year,
and will take place again this year at 7 p.m. We have some very talented
folks in the community, so come show your support and enjoy the entertainment.
Aug. 3, Friday - The Super Modified Tractor Pull takes place at 7 p.m.
Aug. 4, Saturday - Military Day will offer a special ride promotion to
those with a Military ID. The Monster Truck plus ATV and Cycle Show begins at 7:30 p.m. Don’t miss “Bad Habit,” “Defender” and “Gladiator.”
Aug. 5, Sunday - The final day of the Fair will feature a 100-car Demolition Derby. Fasten your seatbelts, folks, it’s going to be a wild ride!
As usual, the Fair offers free admission and a $3 fee for parking on the
fair grounds, with handicap parking located near the grandstand.
Every county fair is dependent upon the services of a huge number of
people - the Board of Directors who work tirelessly, the exhibitors who toil
all year to bring their prize plants and livestock, the local businesses who
donate time and materials, our many volunteers, friends of the fair who
make donations, and of course, the people of the community who attend
the fair. I’d like to extend my gratitude to all who make the fair a success
year after year.
The Board of Directors of the Gouverneur & St. Lawrence County Fair
would like to extend a heartfelt thank you and to recognize this year’s Corporate Sponsors for their generosity.

Gouverneur/St. Lawrence Co. Fair
Gouverneur & County Fair July 31 To Aug. 5
GOUVERNEUR - An American Idol finalist Aaron Kelly will open this year’s
Gouverneur & St. Lawrence County Fair
in the grandstand with a concert on July
31 at 8 p.m.
This year’s fair, which takes place July
31 to Aug. 5, will also feature a monster
truck and cycle show and a Super Modified Tractor Pull.
Fair President Donald Peck expressed
excitement about this year’s new-andimproved county fair.
“The Gouverneur and St. Lawrence
County Fair Directors and volunteers
have been busy in an effort to improve
the facility and make the fair even greater than before. Fair goers will find a new
handicap parking lot and ramp which will
make getting to the grandstand a breeze.
The agricultural area has been expanded,
there is a new area dedicated to local entertainment, and the home arts display
has been enlarged,” said Mr. Peck.
As in years past, the fair will sport a 4-H
theme with numerous shows featuring
a variety of animals. Also, the 4-H Youth
Building will be open all day.
The fair and its midway rides provided
by Coleman Brothers officially opens
Aug. 1 at 1 p.m.
Harness racing will get underway at
noon in the grandstand. Capping off the
