SDANG NEWSLETTER May 2016 Dear Members, I believe El Nino has finally left leaving very little rain. I hope this doesn't mean an abnormally hot summer. Time to plant flowers and tomatoes. I hope to get more than a few. I have a purple thumb!! Our Chapter project, "Patches," has gotten off to a great start. The hardest part is counting the threads to begin but once that is done it will be exciting to complete each square every month. Nancy Horne and Lisa Eddo are doing a wonderful job with directions and demonstrating. We are getting close to two major events here in San Diego. We have the Del Mar Craft Fair from May 12 through 14th. SDANG will have a booth there and if you are interested in sitting and stitching for a time contact Margi at 858-344-6794 or email at www.margit7@att.net. SDANG BOARD President: Lee Ryan President@sdang.org VP-Programs: Nancy Horne Lisa Eddo Programs@sdang.org VP-Membership: Cheryl Jankowiak Membership@sdang.org Secretary: Sharon Meng Minutes@sdang.org Treasurer: Nancy Deguia Treasurer@sdang.org Workshops: Nancy Holub workshop@sdang.org Website: Sharon Meng News@sdang.org After the May Craft Fair comes the Del Mar County Fair which runs from June 3rd through July 4th. We also have a booth there and still need volunteers to sit and stitch for a while. I love stitching there and talking to all the people that come by and explain the benefits of stitching. I have just read that crafting might be the key to everlasting youth. The stimulation of the mind slows down the cognitive deterioration. There was a French study that says crafting people are less likely to develop dementia, and that includes Alzheimer's disease. Crafting not only gives a sense of pride and achievement but develops handeye coordination, spatial awareness and fine motor dexterity. So keep your needles moving!!! I encourage all of you to get involved with your needlepoint chapters. We make great friends and have great times together, not to mention creating something wonderful. See you all at the meeting.
