Box 3982, Ballwin, MO 63022 509A Old State Rd, Ellisville, MO 63021 ph: (636)394-7277 SLIMEY CRUD RUN Sunday, Oct 1 To top off your weekend, we encourage you to stop at the Slimey Crud Run on Sunday. The SLIMEY CRUD RUN should be on every motorcyclist’s “Bucket List.” Peter Egan once referred to it as a bunch of guys with café racers going for a little ride. But it’s more than that. Nostalgia, thumpers, and café fairings rule the day; with shell helmets, worn-out leather jackets, and goggles worn by young riders who were born too-late for the first go-round of these machines. Event includes: → Friday evening Hospitality Reception Check in Meet staff and Board Pick up ride sheets and goodies Sign up for guided rides Social hour with appetizers Cash bar → Saturday rides Go with a leader, or strike out on your own → Saturday evening dinner Brief announcements & door prizes → T-shirt, Souvenirs, Goodie Bag, & Camaraderie Cost $79.00 per person Space is limited! Register at: http://www.bmwmoa.org Look for the EVENTS REGISTRATION link on the left side of the web page. Cranberry Country Lodge September 29 - October 1 Enjoy a leisurely Sunday morning, then plan to arrive at Leland (only 65 twisty miles south of Tomah) in the early afternoon. From the vintage to the new, this event is like Candyland for Bikers. Check out more information at slimeycrud.com, and add it to your weekend schedule if you can. The Off-Road Adventure (Entry Level) Sport Bike riders Nirvana Local riders will tell you: This area is the “east Tennessee of the upper Midwest.” There are so many curves, twists, coulees and hollars that you'd swear you are in West Virginia. And the roads… Oh! The roads! Taking Hwy 108 north out of West Salem, we’ll ride our own little bit of a dragon, leading up to and through the Mindoro Cut. The Cut was hand dug through the soft sandstone, 75 feet deep and 25 feet wide. You’re going to want to ride this road twice. Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail This ride is for the novice GS rider who wants to try his or her skills at the off-road riding scene. Several experienced off-road riders will guide this ride, and offer suggestions in the more challenging areas. Cranberry Harvest & Amish Community Tours Cashton, WI - An Old Order Amish Community For those who would prefer a relaxing ride to enjoy the autumn foliage and the character of this area, we invite you to join us for this ride. Take a beautiful ride back in time, and visit the shops and cheese factory in Cashton, Wisconsin. We might catch the scent of narrow-waisted bundles of hay, and hear the clop, clop, clop of horsedrawn buggies as they pass on the road. We will visit the Cheese factory where 130,000 pounds of milk from 270 local Amish farmers is collected and processed daily. Following that, if we have time, we will ride to Wildcat Mountain where the ridges, switchbacks, and tight curves can challenge even the most experienced motorcyclists. Located in the hilly, driftless area of Wisconsin, the views will make you want to stop to enjoy the vistas as you crest the tops of the ridges. But the next curve always beckons you to tuck it in & ‘Ride it like you stole it.’ The “Experienced” Adventure Riders will enjoy the quiet serenity of this trail, and may be able to find a few places to get into trouble along the way if they want. The route is primarily gravel roads & a few paved roads, through some of the scenic hills of Wisconsin. There may be some water crossings and a few farmer-roads, but this promises to be a fun day filled with quiet “roadsless-traveled.” After sampling true Wisconsin cheeses made in the old world tradition, we will continue on to the shops in the “Down-the-Road” settlement, to enjoy old fashioned root beer floats made with hand cranked ice cream, while appreciating the craftsmanship of the Amish artisans. Ride will be mapped out beforehand, and riders will receive a brief training session prior to the start. The autumn foliage should add to the enjoyment. Photos by Jim Klas, MOA Ambassador
