The school roundabout was constructed to provide a safe dropping off and student collection zone
for children attending Biddabah Public School. Access to the roundabout is from Ruswell Avenue
into another council street Watt Street. Watt Street provides access to the school roundabout and is
subject to RMS rules and conditions. Council parking officers and police patrol it as a condition of the
school being able to use it.
Cars may enter Watt Street and proceed around the roundabout offering other motorists due consideration and respect.
Parents dropping off and collecting children may not use the teacher’s car park. Apart from the
congestion this would cause, children on foot in a car park is extremely dangerous.
Children may not leave the vehicle until it comes to a stop alongside the log fence in the exit lane of
the roundabout, using the space nearest the exit. Children leaving a car parked on the roundabout
are in extreme danger of harm.
Children should be ready to leave the car on the passenger side. They close the car door and walk
through the log fence, joining
the path that leads safely into the school grounds.
Parents using the roundabout should never leave their cars except in an unforeseeable emergency.
All cars should progress to the vacant place nearest the exit in the drop-off zone. Cars just stopping
near the school gate when other places are available are likely to prevent other drivers from entering the drop-off zone. We now have one “Disabled Car Space” located in the carpark behind the
School Hall should it be required.
Arrivals & Departures
Children should arrive at school by 8.50am. Cars should not return to collect them before 3.10pm. It
will take your child at least 10 minutes to get out of class and proceed to the roundabout assembly
point. Queuing around the roundabout only causes delays and frustrations and nobody gets away
before the children arrive any way.
If you want to see your child’s teacher or enter the grounds for any reason, DO NOT USE THE
ROUNDABOUT.

The Tell Them From Me student feedback survey
I am delighted that this term, our school, like many others in the state, will participate in a Department of Education initiative: the
Tell Them From Me student feedback survey. The survey aims to:
Help improve student learning outcomes and measures factors known to affect academic achievement and other student outcomes.
The focus of the NSW-wide survey is on student:

Wellbeing and engagement.

Effective teaching practices.
More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents
The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide the following:

Our school with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about school life,

How engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them.
Schools in Australia and around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help improve how they do
things at school.
Important facts to know about the survey:

It is confidential and school staff will not be able to identify individual students from their responses.

The survey is conducted online

Takes less than 30 minutes to complete.

It will be administered during school hours between 14 March and 8 April.

Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary.

A consent form and a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) for parents/carers about the survey is being sent home
with students.

Easter Raffle: Donations Needed
PLEASE!!!
Our annual Easter raffle is again being organised for the end
of this term. Any donations of chocolate eggs and baskets
are required and will be greatly appreciated. Please drop all
donations to the office.
Its good to see the canteen roster filling up with volunteer names, thanks so much. Don’t forget, that if you
have never done canteen before, whether you are new
to the school or an existing family and if you would like
to do canteen, please go in and have a look around.
There are friendly and experienced volunteers that
would love to show you how it all works. Canteen is
lots of fun and is an easy way to have a catchup with
your friends and/or to also meet new friends. Not forgetting that the children enjoy seeing their loved ones
in the canteen. Don’t forget, our competition where
the prize is a $50 voucher to Absolute Thai
Charlestown. If you have your name on the canteen
roster starting from the 8 February through to the 8
April 2016, you will be automatically entered into the
draw. Your name will go into the draw once. The winners name will be drawn on the 24 February and be
notified this day. The canteen will not be open on a
Tuesday at this point. If we get more volunteers then
hopefully the canteen will open 5 days a week.
The canteen requires volunteers for Monday 22 February and Friday 4 March.
If you can volunteer in the canteen whether it’s for a
half or full day, we would love to hear from you. Get
some friends together and make a day of it. Please
contact Mel Aurisch on 0419 294 046 or Jo Chock. Alternatively, there’s a roster in the canteen where you
can write down your name.
