Project background
Benenden Hospital trust - is an independent
healthcare provider for people in the local
community and the rest of the UK. Benenden
Hospital provides consultations, diagnosis and
treatment services for a wide range of medical
and surgical specialities. The ultra-clean, modern
facility has rigorous infection control and
treatment is provided by experienced consultants
in a safe, secure, well-equipped environment.
in March 2014, a planning application for a £45
million redevelopment of Benenden Hospital was
approved by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.
The redevelopment will result in a facility with
only single bedrooms and en-suites and hence an
in partnership
increased privacy for patients across all areas of
the hospital. There will be a new main entrance
and drop off area with a car park adjacent and
a relaxation area with class leading catering
facilities. Also, there will be an expansion of
physiotherapy, a new paediatric wellbeing centre
with scanning and diagnostic imaging and
considerable refurbishment of existing areas.
The project is split over two phases and started
in May 2015. Commissioning of the Smoke/Fire
Dampers and Actionpac LNS System for Phase 1
was completed in April 2016 and the departments
were opened in May 2016. Phase 2 is due for
completion early 2017.
Actionpac LNS 4 Damper Control and Monitoring systems.
Overview
An Actionpac LNS 4 damper control and
monitoring system is providing progressive
building evacuation by compartmentation in the
event of a fire plus cold smoke clearance post fire.
The system has the capacity to connect up to 8
off damper networks, 80 off inputs and 40 off
outputs.
There are 3 off cold smoke clearance override
panels on the damper networks each with 4 off
override switches interlocked via software such
that only one override panel can be live at any
one time. Quick and easy identification of which
extract switch is to be operated for each zone is
provided by a colour coded floor plan on each
override panel.
The control of supply and extract fans are via
input/output devices residing on the damper
networks which interface with the BMS system.
The dampers are failsafe close, 230V Smoke/Shield
PTC, with an initial design quantity of 230 off.
