Passionately Perfecting Life’s Celebrations Job Description Leadership • Creativity • Passion • Innovation Puff ‘n Stuff Catering seeks a Corporate Human Resources Manager for current and expanding markets, and the position is based in our Central Florida headquarters. In this working manager role, the Corporate HR Manager will lead practices and initiatives to provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture to emphasize empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior team. A key focus of this role will be to augment and lead a strategic HR function in the context of the Company’s short and long-term business goals and objectives. While an operational foundation currently exists, the immediate charge will be to shape an end-to-end talent management architecture using best practices for talent acquisition, performance management, leadership development, and succession planning. This position will report to the Owner/President and serve on the executive leadership team; and assist and advise company leaders about Human Resources issues. Key Responsibilities Human Resource Management • Keep the Owner/President and Leadership Team informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of company goals, and those that are not being addressed adequately at the line management level • Define corporate HR policies, create and implement a corporate Employee Manual/Handbook and ensure compliance across all departments Key Responsibilities Continued • • • • • • • • • Law • Guide management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values Develop human resources operations financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances Develop organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives Provide vision and strategic leadership as a business partner and advisor to the leadership team contributing and impacting the organization as a whole Protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations Work with department leaders to define standardized annual evaluation process for all full-time employees Streamline and organize employee file storage Manage company wide committees including the wellness, training, environmental health and safety, activity, and culture and communications committees Performs all other duties as assigned Lead company compliance with all existing federal, state, and local governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth to maintain minimal company exposure to lawsuits Key Responsibilities Continued • • Direct the preparation of information requested or required for compliance with laws and approve all information submitted; serve as the primary contact with the company employment law attorney and any government agencies Consult with legal counsel as appropriate, and/or as directed by the Owner/President Organizational Development • Design, direct, and lead a company-wide process of organizational planning to evaluate company structure, establish department accountability, job design for a superior workforce, personnel forecasting, employee retention, succession planning and change management throughout the company, evaluate plans and changes to plans and make recommendations to executive team • Work with department leaders to maintain current organizational charts and job descriptions for entire organization • Consult with business/functional leaders to provide and make recommendations for workforce planning, talent management and acquisition, succession management, organizational assessment, compensation, benefits, organizational structure, HR metrics, and change management • Collaborate with key operational leaders in the development of shared-priorities and strategies to mitigate risk and create a positive and entrepreneurial employee environment • Identify and monitor the organizational culture so that it supports the attainment of the company goals and promotes employee satisfaction • Recommend space planning as necessary Recruitment, Compensation & Benefits Management • Build and lead a strong end-to-end talent management architecture including recruiting processes, organizational structures, leadership and professional development programs, compensation and benefits packages, and cultural enablers that will attract, retain, engage and develop employees • Ensure the company is well positioned to meet hiring goals with proactive and innovative solutions that evolve to meet shifting recruiting demands over time • Establish standard company wages and salary structure, pay policies, and oversee the variable pay systems within the company including raises and profit sharing/bonus • Establish and train department leaders on standardized interview processes • Monitor all pay practices and systems for effectiveness and cost containment • Assist leadership team in the annual review, preparation and administration of wage and salary program • Lead the development of benefit orientations and other benefit training • Recommend changes in benefits offered, especially new benefits aimed at employee satisfaction and retention Training & Development • Refine and lead corporate employee orientation and on-boarding process • Work with Department Leaders to create and ensure all appropriate department specific training is administered and documented (i.e. truck driving, serv-safe) Key Responsibilities Continued Leadership • • • • • Foster integrated leadership teams within each market and between markets to inspire high morale and motivation Participate in pre/post-event analysis to gather info and refine initiatives Provide timely feedback and coaching with team and peers when necessary Implement new approaches, policies, and procedures that affect continuous improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed Update job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations Qualifications Required • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources or related field • Ten years of progressive business experience and/or training in an HR leadership role • Experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations • Knowledge of EEO, FLSA, ADA, FMLA and all other employment and labor related guidelines and regulations • Experience with PEO and individual business administration of benefits and compensation programs • Knowledge of Affordable Healthcare Act and implications on medium-sized businesses • Proven experience leading a team and as a successful participant on the executive management team that provides company leadership and direction (steering committee) • Proven budget and labor management skills • Proven excellent written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal communication skills • Enthusiasm about hospitality and culinary industry • Proficiency working within Window or Mac Operating System • Ability and willingness to travel within the state and occasionally be available nights and weekends – we average 20+ Central Florida events and 10+ Tampa events per day, peak season 40+ Central Florida events and 20+ Tampa events per day Preferred Qualifications • Master's Degree in human resources or related field • SPHR certified • Experience preferably in high volume, multi-location resort, restaurant or food service facility • Knowledge of wedding, catering, special events, and hospitality industries • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations • Possess ongoing affiliations with leaders in successful companies and organizations that practice effective Human Resources Management. • Co-Advantage experience Compensation & Benefits • Competitive compensation available, commensurate with experience and leadership abilities, in addition to a quarterly profit-sharing program Robust benefits available including health and dental coverage, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid vacation • Contact To confidentially express interest in this exciting role, please email your letter of interest, salary history, CV and resume to Warren Dietel, warren@puffnstuff.com.
