Celebrating Older Americans Month
Since 1963, we have set aside the
month of May to acknowledge and
celebrate older Americans across the
country. The Leon Mathieu Senior Center
is joining in that celebration.
The Administration on Community
Living, formerly the Administration on
Aging, has announced this year’s
celebration theme of “Blaze a Trail”. This
is to emphasize how much older adults
have been “blazing trails” across the
country and most importantly in their own
communities. Come be a trail blazer at
Leon Mathieu Senior Center and be part
of the healthy aging movement.
Happy Older Americans Month!

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Timothy Sandy. I am
pleased to announce that I have taken the position of the Blackstone Café Coordinator. I have

my education. I am a graduate of Johnson and Wales University where I majored in Food
and Beverage Management, and from there I spent the last 18 years working in a variety of
restaurants and cafés. More recently, I have focused and specialized in nursing and
rehabilitation facilities. I am excited to be part of such a wonderful and heartwarming group.
I invite you to our café which is located on the 3rd floor of the Leon A. Mathieu Senior Center.
We provide breakfast on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Lunch is served
Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. There are three nutritious options to choose from for
