Design and Technology
All research and development concepts of the RT655
are designed using Solid Works™ software and
components were analyzed using Finite Element
Analyses (FEA).
This allowed us to fully simulate all sweeper mechanical
functions and to design the most efficient,
environmentally friendly sweepers on the market.
RT655 Air regenerative sweeper designed in Australia to
meet the changing demands of municipal sweeping
requirements world wide. With many years experience
of sweeper hopper design coupled with scientific
research from Johnston, the development of a unique
SepaVac™ hopper void which creates a cyclone effect
within the hopper for the most efficient filtering of dust
and debris particles was achieved.
Iveco Tier 3a Auxiliary Engine
The RT655 comes standard with a powerful Iveco Tier 3a diesel
engine, which meets the latest EPA emission requirements for off
road diesel engines. Engine speed is managed by an electronic
ECU eliminating unreliable and costly cables. Standard equipment
includes a fail safe engine shutdown system for low oil pressure and
high engine temperature; as well as a stainless steel muffler and
exhaust pipe.
A single 220 litre fuel tank including a 15 litre reserve supplies both
truck and auxiliary sweeper engine ensuring long operation without
refueling.
Covered Engine Compartment
Completely covered engine pack reduces engine noise, lowers
overall machine decibels, while protecting components from
inclement weather and damage. Air intake ensures a clean
environment for the engine, resulting in greater reliability and longer
component life.
Energy efficient blower system for fuel savings
The RT655 features a patented gearbox driven blower/fan, which
eliminates belts and other high wear components, resulting in a
lower cost of operation. Its patented step-up gearbox drive system
increases fan speed at a ratio of 1.79:1 which:

debris hopper construction, while backing them with
comprehensive warranties that safeguard your
investment
The debris hopper is dumped via a handheld remote that
permits operation from inside or outside the drivers’
cabin. A safety button is provided that prevents
unintentional raising/lowering of the debris hopper and
rear door. An emergency electric PTO system is also a
standard feature

The hopper tips to a 55 degree angle ensuring quick and
clean dumping every time, while eliminating
maintenance intensive floor scraping bars or vibrators
found on competitive models.
A standard safety feature is the automatic body prop that
ensures operator or maintenance personnel safety
during equipment inspections. In OHS&W terms, this
exceeds the guidelines set out to safeguard service
personnel.

In addition, the SepaVac™ dust separator is
automatically emptied each time the hopper is tipped.
Lots of water on board
Twin molded Polyethylene plastic water tanks is guaranteed against
corrosion for life. The water tanks include an in cab low water
indictor as well as sight tubes on both sides.
The suction water filter of the RT655 is a reusable stainless steel
mesh type incorporating screw cap locking features eliminating the
need to use any tools to remove and service the element.
This allows the operator and service personnel to service and
maintain the water system effectively.
Water is delivered via a hydraulically driven twin diaphragm pump
which can run dry without damage.
Dust separator/hood hydrant washout
A quick connect hydrant connection is furnished as standard
equipment to provide fast, easy cleaning of the dust separator,
sweeping hood, pressure and suction hoses.

Sweep Gear
The RT655 comes standard with two trailing 1000mm
diameter hydraulically driven gutter brooms can
effortlessly moves the bulkiest of material with relative
ease no matter how heavy the sweeping becomes.
With the ability to operate both brushes simultaneously,
a path of 3,500mm is swept thoroughly with the RT655.
This allows fast and efficient sweeping of large areas
reducing the number of passes required. In turn, costs
are reduced dramatically and productivity is greatly
improved from this high performance road sweeper
Large 1,000mm diameter gutter brushes
The RT655 gutter brush mechanism utilizes heavy-duty
non stall hydraulic motors designed for continuous
sweeping no matter what the conditions.
With both gutter brushes having Vari Brush™ and the
left hand having Rotatilt™ as standard these features in
combination with an in-cab gutter brush speed control of
0 to 120rpm, along with in-cab gutter brush weight
controls, the operator has unrivalled sweeping
capabilities a standard equipment so you can easily
adapt to whatever is thrown in your way.
The in cab weight and speed controls reduce gutter
brush wear and provides a better cleaning performance
whilst reducing costs.
Non stall hydraulic motors
The gutter brooms feed the widest sweeping hood in the
industry; a full 2,360mm. The hood features an in cab
control ‘hovering’ feature for collection of bulky litter and
trash. Twin 14” (360mm) diameter pressure and suction
hoses ensure even the largest debris is collected No
need to raise sweep gear when reversing. The RT655
design allows sweeping in reverse without worrying
about damaging the sweep gear.

A single master sweep control ‘ergo’ switch raises/lowers,
stops/starts all sweeping functions. Water can be automatically
selected with each broom/ sweeping function, eliminating switches
and wires.
Simple design – Easy maintenance
Today’s customers demand safety, economy, operator comfort, and
simplified maintenance. The RT655 is engineered for easy
maintenance. No need to hunt and crawl all over our machine, the
RT655 has been designed logically. Common components are
centrally located and grouped. All systems feature LED status
indicators on control solenoids, and built in test ports for fast, easy
diagnostics. Color coded electrical harnesses are another little touch
that saves you time and money. Electrical connectors are set to an
industry leading Deutsch IP67 standard plugs and connections to
operate in the harshest of environments.
The ergonomically designed “E” pod™ armrest provides
the ultimate in operator comfort. Finger-tip controls and
ergonomically designed arm supports dramatically
reduce RSI and its debilitating affect on the operator.
Environmental Considerations “PM10”
PM10 covers all kinds of particulates with an
aerodynamic diameter of 10 μm maximum. Such fine
dust particulates arise out of the burning of fuels,
abrasion of car emissions, rubber from tires, industrial
process emissions as well as out of raised soil material
and further natural emission sources. PM10 which could
cause respiratory disease has been identified as a major
health hazard within the last years. Many municipalities
also hope that through intense sweeping of roads the
amount of particulates can be clearly reduced.

PM10 dust suppression.
Cab Chassis
The RT655 can be mounted on an assortment of Conventional dual
controlled cab chassis, allowing users to standardise their fleets. Its
compact design permits mounting onto a short 3,780mm wheelbase
truck resulting in unrivaled maneuverability.
