What:
This Spring benefit event will bring together community leaders,
business trailblazers, and young people to celebrate CityKids’
achievements, empowerment and progress! The event will include
an advance VIP screening of CityKids exclusive 2011-2012 music
video, “Conquer All,” and a special celebrity live performance with
the young people from The CityKids Repertory Company (Rep).
Host Committee: Noted Executive Producer, Wendy Finerman
(Forest Gump, The Devil Wears Prada, P.S. I Love You, One for
the Money), list in formation.
Conquer All music video is an original composition written, arranged,
and produced by CityKids’ young artists. The video combines drama
and performance, allowing our young artists to showcase their writing, dramatic and performance art skills and talents. Conquer All
addresses three prevalent themes impeding the success of young
people today:
•
The false lure of the security of gang membership and
the violence infused into this sense of belonging;
•
The prevalence of homelessness and burdens that youth
tackle to survive through school and the streets, while seeking
physically and emotionally safety; and
•
Body images and the pressure to visibly fit into a stereotype
for acceptance into groups, friendship circles and mostly to
have acceptance of oneself.
