I was given the opportunity to play in America, play at various semi-professional grounds and be coached by various professional footballers through the link the Academy has to the PFA. I was helped by the coaches to achieve a D*D*D* grade, which as helped me progress to university to study Sports Journalism. I’ve seen many players on the Academy course improve and go on to represent Bamber Bridge, Lancashire Schools and England Schools, as well as trials at Blackburn Rovers, Barnsley and Burnley. Overall, my time at college was a great success, one I thoroughly enjoyed and a course which will definitely help you progress as a player, and academically.” Dean Ing (2014-Present) Now playing regularly for BBFC 1st Team and completing his BTEC Qualification. “The Bamber Bridge FC Academy provides various opportunities for footballers to learn and experience a professional like set up practically and academically. The Academy has been instrumental in opening up chances to progress into higher levels of football including county honours, international visits, regular reserve team football and First Team Football in the Evo-Stik League. It offers plenty of experiences that nowhere else nearby can offer and is definitely something I am proud to be associated with.” Rory Judd (2013-2015) Now playing regularly for BBFC Reserves and runs his own Rehabilitation clinic “I joined BBFC Academy in 2013 because of the outstanding facilities, high quality football coaches and friendly staff. My time at Preston’s College allowed me to further my education in Sport to become a Sports Rehabilitator. The staff supported me through my studies to enable me to gain Distinction in every subject, also supporting me in progressing with my playing and refereeing. This has led to me gain an unconditional offer at the University of Bolton. Now at uni I attend college on a weekly basis to aid the Academy as a sports rehabilitator with pre-game massaging, rehabilitation, stretching, first aid, pitch side injuries and advice. Thanks to the staff at Preston’s College Football Academy I am now a qualified masseuse and have passed all my exams to further on to second year.” 14 Tel: 01772 22 55 22 Additional Information •Students will be required to purchase a kit pack containing a range of training wear and will be expected to wear these items for training and attending college. •Bus Passes are available for just £50 per term with the third term FREE subject to attendance and punctuality. •FREE healthy breakfast available to all players each morning. •Subsidised Gym membership for Academy Players with bespoke strength and conditioning programmes for each player. @bbfc_academy 15 How to Apply 1 Contact the Football Academy coaches to find out more about the programme 2 You and your parents/guardian will be invited to an open day to view our facilities and discuss the programme 3 Attend an Academy taster session 4 Visit www.preston.ac.uk/apply and apply online 5 Visit our social network sites and register your interest Key Contacts Andy Pilkington – UEFA Qualified Coach Academy Head Of Recruitment and Coach apilkington@preston.ac.uk 01772 225450 Reza Gholamali Head Of School for Sport rgholamali@preston.ac.uk 01772 225562 Stewart Clitheroe – UEFA Qualified Coach Academy Manager sclitheroe@preston.ac.uk 01772 225450 Preston’s College Advice Centre info@preston.ac.uk 01772 225522 Bamber Bridge FC Academy In association with Preston’s College Preston’s College St Vincent’s Road Fulwood Preston PR2 8UR T: 01772 22 55 22 E: info@preston.ac.uk W: www.preston.ac.uk Stay Connected Bamber Bridge FC Academy @bbfc_academy bamberbridgefcacademy@gmail.com
