AERIALS SMEAL DESIGNS AERIALS WITH THE FIREFIGHTER IN MIND. THAT MEANS OUR AERIALS ARE LOADED WITH SAFETY FEATURES, EASY TO OPERATE AND CAPABLE OF MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE. IN ADDITION TO OUR HIGHPERFORMANCE LADDER STRUCTURE, OUR EXTENSIVE FEATURES AND OPTIONS ALLOW YOU TO CREATE THE AERIAL APPARATUS TO FIT YOUR DEPARTMENT’S NEEDS. 100’ Mid Mount • 5-section aerial structure • -12 to +72 degrees of operation • Midship-mounted aerial designed to reduce travel height to as low as 10’ 125’ Heavy Duty • 4-section aerial structure • Features the industry’s longest horizontal reach of 121’ 100’ Super Heavy Duty • 3-section aerial structure • Superior strength apparatus • 95’ horizontal reach • 100’ vertical reach • 12’1” standard travel height 105’ Heavy Duty • 4-section aerial structure • 101’6” horizontal reach • 11’10” standard travel height 75’ Heavy Duty (Tandem Axle) • 3-section aerial structure • 71’5” horizontal reach • 11’4” standard travel height • Single H beam stabilizers, available with front down style stabilizers for ability to work on downhill grades • Available with up to 600 gallons of water 75’ Heavy Duty (Single Axle) • 3-section aerial structure • 71’5” horizontal reach • 11’4” standard travel height • S ingle H beam stabilizers, available with front down style stabilizers for ability to work on downhhill grades UT 100’ (100’ Rear Mount) • 4-section aerial structure • 101’6” horizontal reach • 11’5” standard travel height 55’ Heavy Duty • 2-section aerial structure • 10’11” standard travel height • Up to 750 gallons of water FEATURES Positional Waterway: Our patented positional waterway is an extremely popular option with many fire departments. This durable, dependable feature lets the operator position the waterway to either Rescue or Water Tower with a simple one-step procedure by switching modes from the turntable operator’s position. QL-12 Electrical System: Our “plug n’ play” system reduces the amount of non-plug connectors and makes it easy to add components and make repairs to the electrical system. Smeal aerials come standard with a V-mux electrical system. Creeper Controls: Operating at 12 to 15 percent of normal operating speed, Creeper Controls allow pinpoint placement of the aerial tip for rescue operations. CP-84 Waterway: The CP-84 Waterway is a standard feature that provides the strongest, most durable waterway on the market. A galvanized inner coating prevents corrosion of the 84,000 psi pipe while the exterior waterway is chrome plated to provide a smooth telescopic movement throughout the entire extension and retraction of the aerial ladder. AL-11: Featuring day and night modes, our AL-11 console saves time and improves operator efficiency with one-glance access to aerial functions like ladder load percentage, extension, rotation and elevation, and hydraulic oil pressure. It also displays all relevant engine information. Interlocks and Short Jacking: When the aerial is short jacked, there is an interlock that prohibits the structure from going fully to the side that is short jacked. Another interlock occurs as part of the anti-body collision system. This prevents the aerial structure from crushing the body of the apparatus when it is lowered. Ergonomic Hose Load: Smeal’s Ergonomic Hose Loader (EHL) improves firefighter safety by placing a minimum of 1,000 feet of 5-inch LDH within a firefighter’s reach, eliminating climbs on wet, slippery apparatus to reload large-diameter hose on aerials. Another Smealsignature game-changer, it’s heavyduty and hydraulically powered. FP-4 Stabilizing System: Smeal’s unique stabilizing system places the front stabilizers just behind the cab of the apparatus; this forward placement provides easy access to the pump panel while reducing stress on the chassis. Substructure: Our hot dip galvanized body mounts come off the torque box and protrude outward to carry the body from the underside of the compartment structure. Additionally, both the upper and lower brackets have rubber blocks to absorb body shock. We also utilize an isolation barrier between dissimilar metals to prevent corrosion. Hot Dip Galvanized Stabilizers: Our hot dip galvanized stabilizers protect the metal in an area that is highly susceptible to road chemicals. DEDICATED TO QUALITY In this industry, you’ll never hear of anything being “too safe” or “too effective.” When we build our apparatus, quality is always our top priority. It starts with the best materials—like our steel aerial ladders and substructures—to build the sturdiest trucks available. The apparatus is constructed by our AWS-certified welders, and every single weld is NDT third-party inspected using magnetic particle examination. We individually paint each piece of our apparatus prior to final assembly to ensure total coverage. This gives our trucks their exceptional look and is critical in effectively protecting against corrosion. Before we send any apparatus out the door, it first goes through a number of rigorous tests to ensure performance is up to Smeal quality standards. All of our efforts to ensure quality mean you’ll get the safest apparatus on the market. Smeal aerials are designed to ensure you get the most out of the truck. With a number of safety features and options, your apparatus will be easy to operate while achieving maximum performance. Tested and Proven: Every Smeal aerial goes through a number of rigorous tests before leaving our facility. HOW TO FIND A DEALER TO BEST SERVE YOU, SMEAL HAS A NUMBER OF DEALER LOCATIONS ACROSS NORTH AMERICA. OUR DEALER NETWORK INCLUDES SOME OF THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE, EXPERIENCED DEALERS IN THE INDUSTRY. There are a lot of fire apparatus manufacturers in this industry and, to be honest, most of them build a pretty good truck. We don’t worry about other companies, though, because leaders don’t look back. They are focused on the task at hand. Everyday, they push themselves to be the best, and for it, they are respected. Just like you, there is a sense of honor in what we do. We work to make the perfect fire apparatus because we believe the bravest of the brave deserve the best of the best. We are Smeal. We build respect. SMEAL FIRE APPARATUS CO. P.O.
