19th Annual Special Needs Children’s Day ~ July 19, 2013
Our “Special Needs Children’s Day” will be held on Friday July 19, 2013 at Marine Stadium, Long Beach, CA. As always
the event will provide a day of water related activities along with entertainment and gifts for the children. Lunch and
drinks will be provided to all who attend. Included in the activities will be boat and tube rides, PWC rides, surfboards,
kayak rides, face painting and balloons by a dozen clowns, all in accordance with the child’s abilities. The CHILDREN as
well as the accompanying adults and siblings have a great time experiencing new activities for the day at the beach.

Every Friday is free thanks to generous support from the L.A. County Arts Commission
The Long Beach Museum of Art is located on a magnificent bluff-top site overlooking Long
Beach Harbor and the Pacific Ocean. This is where early 20th Century European art is
exhibited alongside examples of Californian Modernism. A beautiful ocean-view café with
outdoor tables serves light refreshments to patrons.
The campus includes the historic Elizabeth Milbank Anderson house and carriage house, now
called the Miller Education Center (built in 1912), oceanfront gardens, and a new pavilion
with two floors of expansive gallery space for changing exhibitions with the Museum Store in
the Masterson Atrium.
Parking: Free parking is available in the Museum parking lot on Ocean Blvd., one block west
of the main entrance. Metered parking is available on the beach. To park on the beach, turn
off of Ocean Blvd. at Junipero and follow the road to the parking lot. There are stairs to the Museum from this area.
Public Transportation: The PASSPORT bus stops directly in front of the Museum between Junipero St. and Kennebec
Ave. A route map is located at the end of this guide.

Welcome Aboard the USS IOWA, located on the LA Waterfront in San Pedro, only 6 miles west
of the Hilton Long Beach. Commissioned in 1942 and decommissioned for her final time in
1990, the powerful IOWA has dominated over all fighting ships and earned her title as The
World's Greatest Battleship.
A visit on board the USS IOWA will transport you through the diverse history of the 70-year old
battleship that hosted Presidents Franklin D, Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, as
we as numerous foreign dignitaries. Guests are welcome to explore the 887 ft. battleship to see
her 5' and 16' gun turrets, Officer's Wardroom, 18' armored bridge and Captain's Cabin with the
famous FDR bathtub.
Named as one of LA's best attractions by CBS, the USS IOWA is a perfect family adventure that
appeals to everyone. Kids will be wowed by the monumental size of the vessel and the big 16'
guns. Parents can appreciate the ship's historical significance, while grandparents have fond
nostalgic memories for the famous "Big Stick".

Long Beach’s coastline bike path. Come visit Wheel Fun Rentals in
Shoreline Village, with tons of family fun options for you to choose from.
Our selection of unique cycles includes Surreys, Choppers, Quad Sports,
Deuce Coupes, tandems and cruisers; we’re sure to have something for
everyone! For those who are a bit more adventurous, try a self guided
bicycle tour around Shoreline Village, Naples and Seal Beach on a nice
cushy city bike or performance tandem.

The PASSPORT is a FREE BUS that connects you to downtown Long
Beach’s finest attractions and destinations, including the iconic Queen
Mary, Aquarium of the Pacific, Pine Avenue, City Place Mall, The Pike at
Rainbow Harbor, Convention Center, Shoreline Village, many downtown
hotels and Long Beach Transit’s water taxis, the AquaLink and AquaBus.

The AquaLink water taxi from Long Beach Transit is a 68-foot catamaran
that comfortably ferries passengers to the most popular attractions in Long
Beach Harbor and on down to Alamitos Bay Landing. Fare is just $5 and
wheelchair boarding is available at Doc 4 near the Aquarium of the Pacific,
at the Queen Mary, and at Belmont Pier.
The AquaBus water taxi is a 40-foot boat comfortably ferries passengers to
the most popular attractions on the Long Beach Harbor waterfront. It’s
also wheelchair accessible at most docking locations. The AquaBus has five
"ports of call": Aquarium of the Pacific at Dock 4, the Queen Mary,
Shoreline Village at Parker's Lighthouse, Pine Avenue Circle at Dock 7, and
the Hotel Maya.
