Not only was he the guitarist for the celebrated jazz violinist, Stephane Grappelli, he plays in a duo with the eminent classical guitarist, John Williams and has performed with such greats as Andy Summers, Dizzy Gillespie and Nigel Kennedy. He handles just about any style from 1930s ‘Hot Club’ swing to Claptonesque blues. Highly acclaimed jazz saxophonist Hannah Horton leads her quartet with panache, alternating on tenor and baritone saxophones. She will be joined by John Crawford on piano, Rob Statham on bass, and Charlie Price on drums. £10.00 Thursday 4 October • 7.30pm The Osiligi Maasai Warriors Traditional performers from Kenya who perform to raise funds for improvements to their village back home. Kelly Mepham heads the cast in a role which she first played here 11 years ago. She has since starred in a string of musicals including Singin’ In The Rain, My Fair Lady and West Side Story at Cambridge Corn Exchange. This ultimate feel-good show features several members key to the company’s success at this year’s Haverhill Drama Festival, including director David Hart, musical director Karen Chinery and choreographer Sue Webber. Giles is a stalwart of the Carnival Band and Hannah James is from the award-winning duo Hannah James and Sam Sweeney and can currently be seen as part of the group Lady Maisry. Recreating the energy and sound of the guitar legend, the band performs all the classic tracks from Hendrix’s musical legacy. Capturing that unique Hendrix ‘feel’, The Fire’s live performance could be the closest thing you’ll hear to Jimi himself. ‘A great band, they really capture the feel of the Jimi Hendrix Experience’. He might be able to help with his bag full of ears and his collection of weird and wonderful tools. But when he looks inside the musical notes are packing their bags and running away. What are they scared of and who is hammering at the keys? Garlic Theatre delight children and adults with this offbeat, jazzy tale. Leeb is a frequent performer at concerts and festivals in Asia, the Americas and Europe and has been featured in numerous guitar magazines all over the world. Every year, he teaches workshops and his album Desert Pirate was voted one of the essential albums of the last twenty years by Acoustic Guitar Magazine. All this has earned him a loyal worldwide following and influential fans such as Eric Roche who was his guitar teacher, ‘for about five minutes and then I heard him play’, Jon Gomm awarded him ‘ten out of ten Gomms’ and Guthrie Govan who thinks that ‘what Thomas does on an acoustic guitar probably shouldn’t be legal.’ This non stop colourful show will take you back in time with two hours of jukebox hits. Featuring the most popular music from artists such as Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Connie Francis, Elvis, Brenda Lee, Billy Fury, Dusty Springfield, Cliff Richard, Sandie Shaw, The Beatles plus many more. With a live band, fabulous costumes and fantastic dancing from the BobbySox dancers this is a rock and roll music show that will blow your Bobbysox off! £10.00 Friday 9 November • 8.00pm Beverley Craven Performing all her hits from the 90s including Promise Me, Holding On, Woman to Woman, Memories & Love Scenes, Beverley Craven is back on the road with a pared down acoustic line up, she sings candidly about her experience of surviving breast cancer, her recent divorce and current affairs (not the political kind ...) This is a show filled with nostalgia, unapologetically designed to make you laugh, cry and then buy Truth Be Told, her autobiography that’s been 12 years in the making. £16.00 £15.00 Sunday 11 November • 7.30pm In Concert with Haverhill Silver Band Haverhill Silver Band is delighted to be back in the Arts Centre for the start of the indoor concert season. The band will perform a selection of music from their recently recorded CD. The fortieth anniversary of the band's founding sparked the idea of a revamped, new line-up bringing together some of the finest talent in folk music from a generation of performers. Under the watchful eye of founder member Ashley Hutchings, the baton is passed on to his son Blair Dunlop along with five of England's most promising musicians; Gavin Davenport, Tom Wright, Katriona Gilmore, Tim Yates and Benjamin Trott. This new lineup recaptures the spirit of The Albion Band’s heyday with a rockier, edgier approach to traditional English folk music. The Haverhill Performing Arts Festival brings together children and young adults up to the age of 18 to perform and compete in a variety of solo, duo and group performances. The band has also added a tribute to the late Gary Moore (ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist and solo artist) who recently passed away.
