Stockholm Live stereo Medici Arts MM 037-2 Most likely a misattribution! According to Lotte Klemperer´s diary entry for the Stockholm concert, her father conducted Bach Suite No. 3, Hindemith Nobilissima Visione and Brahms Symph. No. 4. A second concert (23/25) consisted of Mozart, Symph. No. 29 K. 201 and Bruckner, Symph. No. 7. OK did conduct the ‘Eroica’ in Stockholm, but those performances took place in 1965, on 19 and 21 May (together with the Coriolan Overture and Symphony No 2). If this (stereo!) CD actually contains that performance, another puzzle arises: it is uncannily similar to the EMI studio recording with the Philharmonia on 29 October /11-13 November 1959. According to Lotte Klemperer, the final two movements in this recording are led by Herbert Haefner, who completed the symphony (though without Klemperer’s own modification of the last movement) after Klemperer had departed for concerts in Greece. The composite recording was issued without Klemperer’s approval and led to the break between Vox’s George Mendelssohn and the conductor. 1951-04-?? 1951-05-??
