Pouch Pack
Instructions
Newborn
to 3 years
“The ergonomic, organic,
NZ made, soft-structure pack”
The Natures Sway Pouch Pack is an ergonomically designed
soft-structure baby carrier, which allows you to be hands free
with baby safely attached. Always monitor your baby and use
only as directed.
Important Directions
• The Pouch Pack can be used with newborns: tuck their legs up in front
of you, tighten the straps to keep them close, and ensure their head is
supported and their airway is clear at all times. You could fold a nappy
or cloth and put it under baby’s bum if they need to sit a bit higher.
• It is designed so baby is always facing inward for comfort and security.
Our philosophy is that you, the parent, are the centre of their world
and for some babies it is overwhelming and over-stimulating to be
facing out. Baby facing in ensures that they are closer to your centre of
gravity, making them much easier to carry so there is no undue strain
on your back or on baby’s hips – which are often not ready for loadbearing until they can walk.
• To use as a hip-seat: turn the waistband
to one side, undo the chest strap and
exchange the shoulder straps so left goes
to right and vice-versa. This position is
great for babies who can sit up and like
to look out.
• We recommend you do not wear a baby
younger than 6 months on your back
unless accompanied by another adult.
• Suitable to carry toddlers up to 3 years
old as the ergonomic design places most
of the weight comfortably on your hips via
the extra wide, wool-padded waistband.
Features
• The wide base of the Pouch Pack is designed to support small babies
in the ‘froggy-squat’ position, with their knees higher then their hips.
This protects baby’s hips and spine from premature weight bearing
before they are developmentally ready. Baby will be at least 4 months
old before their feet will come out the sides of the pack.
• The middle zip allows you to extend the amount of back support for
baby and can be undone or done up while wearing the pack, depending
on baby’s needs.
• The sun hood can be used to protect baby from the elements, provide
head support and/or promote sleep. You may need help to do it up on
the back. When using on the front we suggest you attach just one side
in case it’s too tight on your neck. When not in use it tucks away into
its own pocket.
• Made from super strong 55% Hemp / 45%Organic Cotton fabric –
naturally UV resistant and anti-bacterial – with your choice of a plain
or patterned front panel.
• The padding is compressed natural wool which will wick away
moisture without making you feel too hot or cold, better for you and the
environment.
• The small zipped pocket on the waistband is great for keys and coins.
• Fully machine-washable on a cool-medium temperature, dry out of the
sun, some colour fading is possible. Note the clips are shatterproof.
• Very compact and a great travel accessory
since it folds down to the size of a hip bag.
• Fits most sizes 8-18, contact us for
custom sizes.
Accessories
• Non-dyed, easily washable shoulder strap
protectors, for where baby is likely to
mouth the fabric, are recommended.

Lift baby up and out.
“The head of the thigh-bone in a newborn is ideally orientated
towards the hip socket – and thus fills it out evenly-when the legs
are pulled up to approximately 100˚ and spread approximately
40˚ at the same time.
When infants are picked up they take up this posture spontaneously
and therefore it has to co-operate with their anatomic conditions.
As well, the rounded back (kyphosis) doesn’t stretch out
immediately after birth. On the contrary, the well-known
double-s form of the spine is developing fully at the beginning
of self-supported walking.
These anatomic conditions, together with the palmar grasp reflex
of the first days in life, suggest that infants are especially adapted
to being carried on our body.
Thus, it is possible to make a statement about the ideal carrying
position: with wide-spread, flexed legs, slightly rounded back and
orientated towards the carrying adult.“

How to put baby on your front
To safely put baby on the front of you, we suggest you put pack on
yourself first. Fasten the waist strap, do up the chest strap, then fully
loosen the shoulder straps. That way you can put the Pack on like a jersey
and pull the main body open like it’s a big pocket. This gives plenty of
room to put baby in from the top.
1.
2.
Do up waist clip.
7.
Position shoulder straps.
Put yellow safety loop
over buckle.
8.
Pull the front panel
forward to make room
for baby.
3.
Reposition waistband
so the front panel is
on your tummy.
9.
Put baby in feet first.

in the froggy position.
6.
Loosen the bottom
adjuster on both
shoulder straps.
11.
Put the chest strap
up and over your head.
12.
Tighten bottom adjuster
on both shoulder straps.
You are ready to go!
Alternative front loading position
There is more than one way to get your baby in the pack. This way you put
on one shoulder strap so you can load baby from the side. You will need to
be flexible enough to reach behind to do up the chest clip for this method.
1.
Put on as per previous
instructions, with just one
shoulder strap on.
2.
3.
Pick up baby onto hip
and put leg through.
Pull pouch up over
baby’s back and put on
other shoulder strap.
4.
5.
Reach behind back and do up
chest clip.
Tighten shoulder straps to pull
baby in close.
How to put baby on your side
The side carry is a great position for babies who want to see out and perhaps
be involved with an activity you are able to do now your front is free. You will
be crossing the shoulder straps so right goes to the left B clip and vice-versa.
For a right handed person putting a child on their left hip.
1.
Do up the waistband on your left hip.
Open and extend the adjustment on
all clips (just undo the chest clip).
Attach the right shoulder clip A to the
B clip of the left bottom strap.
3.
Position baby with their legs straddling
your hip and wrap the loose left
shoulder strap round your back to do up
with the B clip on the right hand bottom
strap. Tighten all straps to comfort.
2.
Put your left arm and head thru
so the shoulder pad sits on your
right shoulder.
4.
You can adjust the shoulder pad
to the outside of your shoulder.
How to put baby on your back
Wait until your baby is at least 6 months before you try this position on
your own. Practice at home with a chair or bed to lift baby from. You can
make it fun like a piggyback game. With a bit of experience you and your
toddler will be able to perfect the back loading technique with ease.
1.
2.
Do up waist band and secure
safety loop around the closed clip.
5.
Tighten the shoulder straps (new packs
have clip which adjust in both directions).
Loosen the bottom clip B
of the shoulder strap.
6.
Do up the chest clip.
We recommend you do not wear a baby younger than 6 months
on your back unless accompanied by another adult.
3.
4.
Using a chair or bed get baby to climb
on your back.
7.
Flip the body of the pack over baby
and do up the shoulder straps.
8.
Stand up and tighten/adjust
the straps to suit.
If possible check baby in a mirror
and you are ready to go.
