Lavin Church.
Km 101
Category Places of interest
One of the most valuable works of art in Grisons is concealed in this little church dating
back to 1480: on a trip through the region, artists from Lombardy stopped off in
Lavin and decorated choir walls, choir vaults and the choir arc front wall with their paintings.
The impressive cycle was covered with lime wash during the reformation. It was not
uncovered again until 1955, and the paintings themselves were painstakingly restored from
2001 onwards. After more than 500 years they can now be fully appreciated once again.
