UPCOMING DANCES - Time to practice your dance
moves! Sprague leadership has had their focus set on a
few exciting dances. First off, the Mr. and Miss Olympian
Pageant group and leadership have been working on a
"Dance through the Decades" where the students will
dance to throwback music from each decade from the
50's all the way to the 2000's. This exciting new dance is
happening this Friday, February 26th. All the proceeds will
be going to Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Students
who attend the Girls’ Basketball Play-In game in Lake
Oswego, will get into the dance for free if they bring their
entry ticket from the game. Secondly, the annual Neon
dance is coming up! Bright lights and flashing colors will fill
the dance floor on March 11th from 9 pm until 11 pm in
the upper gym. Finally, prom is building momentum! The
date has been set for April 2nd at Zenith Vineyards in
West Salem. This year’s theme is Ancient Greece. Tickets
will be sold prior to the dance as well as at the door and
will be $30 a person and 50$ per couple. Sprague
students should be brushing up on their dance moves
and getting ready to get their groove on!
OLY PAGEANT SHOUT OUT to Braden
Gardner! For a second
year in a row, senior
Braden Gardner has
made a donation to the
Mr. and Miss Olympian
Pageant fundraiser for
Doernbecher Children's
This Thursday, over fifty
students from Crossler and
Judson Middle Schools
visited Sprague to learn
more about our school,
student life, and AVID
Electives. Students toured
the campus, visited
classrooms, and got a chance to ask current Sprague AVID
students questions about their transition to high school. We
are excited to welcome all of these students to Sprague next
year and to continue to build our AVID program. If you are
interested in learning more about AVID please contact
Sarah Bucholz, the coordinator.
RE MENTORS NEEDED
ASPIRE
ASPIRE is a program of the Oregon Office of Student
Access and Completion (OSAC). ASPIRE helps high
school students through one-on-one volunteers
mentoring support. ASPIRE_Sprague was established
earlier this school year in conjunction with Sprague staff
members, SKEF, ASPIRE Oregon, Salem-Keizer School
District and existing Beyond Sprague program volunteers.
So far ASPIRE_Sprague has 10 mentors/volunteers working
with 43 students. The program at Sprague is
encouraging each student to make choices after high
school that involve
Employment,
Engagement,
Enlistment or
Enrollment.
Students can stop
by Room 160 to talk
to Ms. Dunn during
the school day or
afterschool to get
assistance.

We had one swimmer qualify for state, Colby Evenson.
Colby went on to swim the 200 IM and the 500 Free at the
state swim meet. Colby placed 12th in the 200 IM
breaking another school record going a 2:00.16. Then he
went on to swim even faster in his 500 Free and broke his
own record set a week earlier going a 4:48.81! He placed
7th in the 500 Free. In addition to Colby’s swim
performance, Colby is an ideal teammate and friend to
his fellow swimmers and an example as a student-athlete
pulling a 3.75 GPA for during the fall semester.
Great job Colby!
The season ended up being exactly what our team
needed. We had fun while swimming fast and cheering
each other on. We are excited for next year and ready
to build on a program with all younger students.
Go Olympians!
