NEW LOGO FOR NAPLES PARROT HEAD CLUB
Adopted A Soldier 2 Buffett In The News 3 Rw&t 2012 4 Calendar 5 Parrot Heads 6 June 2012 NEW LOGO FOR NAPLES PARROT HEAD CLUB In an effort to attract new members from neighboring areas we revamped our logo to place the emphasis on “The Pirates of the Paradise Coast” instead of Naples PHC. The new logo also gives us the ability to use the individual pieces of art separately or in various groupings to be silkscreened on t-shirts, embroidered on hats, printed on flyers, banners and badges. Support Our Soldiers! Here's a sample list of items they need or can’t get easily. The average age of an US Soldier is 19 years old! Start writing those cards and letters & gathering up cool stuff to send. As a club we should be able to really spoil our soldier with multiple letters every week and a care package every two weeks. Bring your cards and letters to every phlocking, trip to the Nav-A-Gator, or wherever you might find a board member and we will get them mailed. Remember everything in travel or single serving sizes. Shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, lotion, sunscreen, lip balm, deodorant, q-tips, tooth paste, tooth brush, mouth wash, tampons, Kleenex, comb, brush, baby wipes, hair spray, razors and blades, sewing kits, tweezers, ultra healing hand cream, water guns, battery powered fans, batteries, playing cards, magazines, books, CD's, videos and AT&T phone cards. Anything else shippable & fun. Now for anything a teenager would like to eat because the average age of soldiers is 19 years old. I've got Buffett shirts older than that! Just remember it's REALLY HOT so no chocolate. Canned fruit snack packs, protein and breakfast bars, single serving packs of cookies, chips, trail mix, nuts, crackers, gum, beef jerky, energy drinks, single pack crystal light and other flavorings for bottled water, tang and anything else that sounds like someone in the armpit of the world would love to have. Crystal light and other flavorings for bottled water, tang and anything else that sounds good. Our love and caring can make a difference in these young people's lives. Maybe by bringing a bit of fun and laughter to their lives while in those war ravaged places will make the time past quicker and keep them a bit saner. www.soldiersangels.org I would like the club to consider supporting The Wounded Warrior Project as well as Soldier’s Angels. We can commit as little as $19 per month to The Wounded Warrior Project and make a difference in a soldier’s life. HONOR THEIR SACRIFICE SUPPORT A WOUNDED WARRIOR TODAY MISSION: The mission of Wounded Warrior Project® is to honor and empower wounded warriors. PURPOSE: To raise awareness and to enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs. HISTORY: Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) began when several veterans and friends, moved by stories of the first wound- ed service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq, took action to help others in need. What started as a program to provide comfort items to wounded service members has grown into a complete rehabilitative effort to assist warriors as they recover and transition back to civilian life. Thousands of wounded warriors and caregivers receive support each year through WWP programs designed to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment. Wounded Warrior Project® is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. For more information on WWP, visit woundedwarriorproject.org. Page 2 BUFFETT IN THE NEWS May 25th The doors open for the new Margaritaville Casino and Restaurant Biloxi tonight at 8:00 PM. Jimmy Buffett performs at a Sneak Peek event, broadcast LIVE on Radio Margaritaville(6pm ET / 5pm CT/ 3pm PT). From Local15tv.com: “Sneak Peek Inside Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville Casino” NOLA.com has an interview: “Jimmy Buffett expands his Margaritaville brand to Biloxi casino” (Courtesy of www.buffettnews.com) NOLA: You’re not partnered with a national casino chain in Biloxi. Buffett: It’s us with some investors. I certainly don’t have any expertise in the casino world, but it’s like running a band. You go out and try to find the best people who understand who you are and what you do. The thing was to try to take Margaritaville to the casino world. We were able to do it in Las Vegas. The initial feedback is that it’s fun. It’s the only casino out there with windows in it, which is a big deal, I guess. NOLA: How naked did you feel at Jazz Fest without the Coral Reefer Band? Buffett: I thought that, on Thursday (and) on such short notice, not that many people would show up, maybe 10,000. But it was big. I liked it. I had a good time. It’s interesting to sit down and play at Jazz Fest, I must say. Maybe I’m looking into the future, but everybody seemed to dig it. It worked so well that we’re going to put (an acoustic segment) into the summer tour. Page 3 ARE YOU REGISTERED YET?
