All components of this sponsorship package can be customized to fit the organization’s needs. Therefore, do not hesitate to express interest at any level as almost any request can be made possible through this exciting weekend. “The Tour de White Rock is always a highlight on the BC racing calendar for me, and with the fantastic crowds, volunteers, and sponsors that came together for this year’s edition, it certainly did not disappoint! It is always a rewarding experience to race at home, especially in what is arguably the toughest road race around, so it was a real honor to pull off a win! Thank you to the people of White Rock for their hospitality and support in hosting this race….and thank you to all the sponsors who help grow and develop the sport by contributing to this race!” JASMIN GLAESSER, winner of the 2011 Road Race JULY 11,12,13 2014 MISSION The Tour de White Rock promotes community spirit, volunteerism, cycling awareness, and supports local business and tourism by putting on a world-class event that draws international riders to White Rock. A PROUD, 35 YEAR LEGACY OF CYCLING EXCELLENCE With over 5,000 spectators in attendance at each event and over $100,000 in cash prizes for the cyclists who participate to win, this is the cycling event to be at each year. Professional Teams from all over North America are in attendance. The accolade of some past attending riders include, but not limited to the likes of: Tyler Farrar, Chris Horner, Lance Armstrong, Svein Tuft, Brian Walton, Christian Meier and Dominic Rowan on the men’s side and Olympic riders Alison Sydor, Leslie Tomlinson and Erin Willock that have attended the Pro women’s events. From its humble beginnings in 1980 with the City’s first bicycle race of 35 participants and 20 volunteers, the Tour de White Rock has grown to an international competition attracting 150 elite cyclists from around the world and over 125 volunteers. The Tour de White Rock has become a world-class event for professional cycling teams, fans and the media. As the final event in the BC Superweek cycling series, the Tour de White Rock, along with the Tour de Delta, Giro di Burnaby, UBC Grand Prix and Gastown Grand Prix is the premier cycling event in Canada. The City of White Rock co-sponsors and organizes the event including publicity, production, operation, hospitality, volunteers, registration and evaluation. 3 5 T H A N N U A L 3 THREE DAYS OF EXCITING EVENTS! Every year, during 3 days in July, the streets come alive with the sounds of cheering and community spirit with the Tour de White Rock. New in 2011, was the Amateur Hill Climb. This inaugural event attracted local amateur athletes who wanted to take a turn at climbing Buena Vista Ave just as the Pro’s do it every year! We invite all amateur cyclists who wish to participate in this exciting challenge to register beginning in May 2014 through White Rock Leisure Services. Call 604-541-2199 to register. JULY 11,12,13 2014 GRUELING CHALLENGE: HILL CLIMB The Hill Climb is an exciting dash to the top of Buena Vista Avenue in the heart of White Rock. This grueling climb takes brute power and strength to successfully conquer the steep 700-metre ascent. Lined with cheering spectators and gorgeous views of Semiahmoo Bay in the background, it is the perfect setting to lead the weekend’s festivities. CROWD FAVORITE: A TEST OF ENDURANCE: CRITERIUM ROAD RACE The Criterium is a speed race on a short circuit with the city streets closed to traffic. Racers reach speeds of up to 70 km/ hr as they race on a circuit. This event is a crowd-favorite as the racers take the turns at high-speed and the constant sprinting whips the crowd into a frenzy as riders compete for cash prizes known as lap primes (pronounced “preems”). The Tour de White Rock Road Race is one of the most prestigious and historic races in North America. This race is a grueling 130 km test of endurance and attrition. Semiahmoo Bay and Mount Baker provide picturesque backdrops as spectators line the waterfront or watch the action from restaurants along Marine Drive. “Tour de White Rock was the first race I ever competed in, in my life. It holds a special place in my cycling past. There is nothing better than to race with the best riders in North America on your own home turf and give back to your family and friends with the enormous support they gave me over the years. Winning White Rock was a way to repay my family and friends. A non-confident, timid young junior getting dropped right off the line in 1983, to an Olympic Medal. Without White Rock, none of this would have happened!” BRIAN WALTON, 6-time Tour de White Rock Winner & Olympic Medalist SVEIN TUFT, Pro Men’s Road Race & Criterium Winner 2010 3 5 T H A N N U A L P L A T I N U M SPONSOR BANNERS: ADVERTISING EXPOSURE: »» Up to 4 – 3 x 8 ft. corporate banners* on display for all 3 days of events, including volunteer banquet ( *sponsor to provide; banners must have grommets.) »» Stage banner * ( *sponsor to provide; banners must have grommets.) »» Corporate logo on “streetscape banner” across Johnston Rd. »» Corporate logo on start/finish banner »» Corporate logo on stage backdrop »» Corporate logo on event poster and handbills (250 distributed to local businesses and Pacific Northwest Bike Shops) »» Corporate name on BC Superweek poster (250 distributed to local businesses and Pacific Northwest Bike Shops) »» Corporate logo and message on racers program (2,500 produced) »» Corporate logo in White Rock’s 2014 Summer Leisure Guide (31,000 distributed) »» Corporate logo and URL on event website, www.tourdewhiterock.ca »» Corporate logo in newspaper ads and post race acknowledgement JULY 11,12,13 2014 E V E NT TITLE S P O N SO RS H I P — $1 0,0 0 0 »» Corporate logo and name listed on City of White Rock website, www.whiterockcity.ca »» Corporate video on event website »» Corporate acknowledgement on social networking sites »» Corporate name on all media releases and communications distributed to the public »» Public address announcements during race commentary, VIP Reception and Volunteer Banquet (sponsor to provide key corporate messages) CLOTHING: AWARD CEREMONY: »» Corporate logo centered on all winners jerseys »» Corporate logo on event T-shirts (500 produced) »» 10 event T-shirts provided to sponsor prior to event weekend »» Sponsor provided an exclusive one of a kind winner’s jersey »» Sponsor to present winner’s jerseys at podium for selected event »» Stage presence at all awards ceremonies EXPOSITION: »» On-site promotional display space is available during the Criterium and Road Race (sponsor to provide booth/tent) 3 5 T H OTHER: »» Corporate name associated with crowd prime (*a prime, pronounced “preem”, is money collected from the crowd during Pro Men and Women’s races.
