boosts Jordan trade links
A
s the UAE’s fastest-growing free zone,
Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA)
has been widely acknowledged for its
transparent and investment friendly
laws and regulations that have seen it emerge as
the preferred business hub of the region. While
HFZA serves as a gateway to creating business
opportunities and promoting inward investment,
we also believe that the true yardstick of our
success comes from the way in which we ensure
that the needs of all our stakeholders are met and
how we contribute to the development of the
communities.
To attract increased investment in the free zone, Hamriyah Free Zone
Authority (HFZA) marked its debut participation at Interbuild Jordan
Fair 2014, a four-day event held from 22nd to 25th September at Zara
Expo in Amman, and catering to the construction, building materials,
interior design and the decoration industry.
M
ore than 120 exhibitors
from
the
U.A.E.,
India, China, Greece,
Hungary,
Belgium,
Egypt,
Palestine
and
Jordan
displayed their products and services
in the exhibition. The exhibition was
a huge success and saw the turnover
of more than 5,000 visitors. Traders,
manufacturers
and
exporters
of construction materials from
several countries including Jordan,
eyed business growth through
Interbuild Jordan Fair 2014 which
was inaugurated by Prime Minister
Abdullah Ensour.
Representing Hamriyah Free Zone
at the event was Saud Salim Al
Mazrouei, Director of HFZA and SAIF
ZONE, Hamad Al Shamsi, Senior
Sales Officer and Abdul Aziz Dawood,
Senior Sales Officer.
According to Saud Salim Al
Mazrouei, “Our team interacted
with different industrialists and
key players in the construction
sector who visited our booth in
the fair. Jordan is an important
market for the free zone and we
are considering giving various
incentives to expand their
operations in the Middle East
region.
“Hamriyah Free Zone is an
ideal trans-shipment hub for the
Indian Subcontinent, North and
East Africa and the Arabian Gulf.
It houses 5,700 enterprises
from 155 countries, attracting
foreign investment from more
than 500 industry verticals in
the key sectors like oil and gas,
petrochemicals, maritime, steel,
construction, and food,” he
added.
HFZA is committed to preserving the environment
and believes that sustainability begins within our
own operations. Accordingly, we have established
high performance standards for environment,
health and safety (EHS) at our facilities and are
now upgrading our systems with the launch of an
air pollution monitoring system.
It therefore gives me great pleasure to announce
that HFZA is the first free zone in the UAE to
implement this measure which monitors all
aspects of the environment in adherence to the
international standards and guidelines. Apart
from leading to heightened awareness of the
importance of EHS across our operations, the
new air pollution monitoring system - to be
managed by the internal environment department
- will also help in identifying and managing risk or
breach of norms by companies operating within
the Free Zone.
In addition, the information and data provided
by the new system will help facilitate the
environmental report for third party consultants on
behalf of the industrial organizations in HFZA. This
move also reinforces that the workplace health
and safety of our people and the preservation of
the environment in which we operate are core
values of our CSR activities.
Warm Regards,
Saud Salim Al Mazrouei
Director, HFZA

ulf Petrochem Group, a leader in oil Space
and Energy Business, is focused on providing
integrated solutions for customers and creating
unique value for stakeholders across its supply
chain, production and manufacturing pla nts.
The company came to be founded in Sharjah’s Hamriyah
Free Zone when the owners, Ashok Goel and Sudhir
Goyel, came to the UAE from India in early 1998 to look for
opportunities related to petroleum-based oils and lubricants.
The competitive incentives and unique growth opportunities
offered at the Free Zone enabled them to establish the first
refinery here with full company ownership and exemptions
from all commercial duties with the additional advantage of
repatriation of capital and profits.
The commissioning of its first refinery was soon followed
by its condensate splitter in Hamriyah Free Zone. The stateof-the-art refinery with its distillation columns is capable of
handling a large spectrum of petroleum-based feedstock.
The two refining units have a joint processing capacity of 500
tonnes per day of light crude.
The company began operations with a mission to become a
global oil conglomerate with a focus on providing integrated
solution to its customers and creating unique value for its
stakeholders through integrated operations and consistent
positive yields.
The company is currently active in petroleum products
refining and trading and operates through six business
units including oil refining, oil trading & bunkering, grease

The group’s global growth and development provides a service
in silo or an end-to-end solution for customers looking to refine,
store, trade and deliver oil, gases and lubricants all over the world.
To cater to the growing demands of petrochemicals, the Group
has invested in Hamriyah Free Zone for petrochemicals storage
and distribution.

extensive knowledge in handling a wide range of petroleum
products, with strategic infrastructure of Oil Terminals, Supply

Gulf Petrochem seeks to strengthen the sourcing arm of the
company to support the bunkering business in UAE. Currently,
Gulf Petrochem FZC and its subsidiaries cater to various ports
in the UAE and India with plans to establish into various global
markets.
The company’s port storage terminal in Hamriyah acts as a pillar
of strength in its manufacturing process, by providing storage for
vessel loads of feedstock and paving way for new dimensions
like blending products to create customer-specific grades. It also
goes a long way in supporting trading and offering storage to its
customers and potential customers as a business proposition.
The facility has a total of 14 tanks with capacities ranging from
600 cbm to 3,700 cbm adding to a total of 35,000 cbm, with

Dawood, Senior Sales Executive of HFZA.
Al Mazrouei, who discussed the bilateral trade
cooperation between HFZA and Turkish companies,
also invited MUSIAD, which contributes 15% to
Turkey’s GDP, to utilize the logistic advantages of the
free zones and expand to the region.
“We are happy to cooperate with MUSIAD through
the Consulate General of Turkey in the UAE,” he
added.
In response, Serdar F Kumbaraci assured the
economic cooperation of MUSIAD and support for
HFZA and SAIF ZONE in the future.
The commitment to boost economic ties and forge a
strategic partnership is in line with the vision of the
leaders in the two countries and the aspirations of the
two peoples as well as the business communities in
the UAE and Turkey.
“HFZA has been dealing with several Turkish

Just three years ago, trade between the two nations
stood at around US$5bn annually.
Trade exchanges between the UAE and Turkey
increased by 288 per cent in 2012, according to
an Abu Dhabi Turkey Business Forum. With trade
exchanges of both countries rising dramatically, there
are great opportunities and capabilities, particularly in
the field of construction and contracting. According
to an HSBC Global Research report, Turkey is set to
become the UAE’s second most important export
destination by 2030 – it currently sits outside the top
five.
In this growing sphere of intra-regional ties, the
