Dear Soror of the Sensational South Atlantic Region:
It is an honor and privilege to issue this Call to Conference and to invite you to the 25th
South Atlantic Regional Conference in the beautiful and historic city of Charleston,
South Carolina. The Sorors of Charleston Alumnae, North Charleston Alumnae,
Lambda Omicron and Nu Sigma are eager to display the city's southern hospitality and
southern charm.
We are elated to welcome the National President, Cynthia M.A. Butler McIntyre, her
executive committee and her executive board members to the final Regional Conference
of this cycle. During this Conference, we will be blessed with the theme address from
the National President as we are "A Sisterhood Called to Serve: Transforming Lives, Impacting
Communities,” during the opening ceremony.
The Conference programs and events are planned particularly to equip you with the
tools necessary for you to continue to serve your communities and conduct the business
of Delta. I charge you to engage in dialogue with national and regional leadership
members to enhance your knowledge and experience as they present information during
structured workshops or listening post. Capture the essence of the entire Conference.
After the workshops, take some time to fellowship with Sorors and friends and visit
Charleston's many tourist areas. Known for its white beaches, cultural art centers, historic
sites, such as the Market Place and various cuisines, is sure to be intriguing. The many
distinctive and wonderful opportunities await you during your stay in the "City by the Sea".
It is a melting pot of culture and charm.
Sorors, join us as we close the Wilson/Wise administration and usher in the new
leadership for the Sensational South Atlantic Region. Witness the historical election and
installation of the leadership that will serve us during our Centennial Celebration in
2013.
Thank you for the trust you placed in me to lead the Region over the past four years. It
has been my distinct honor and pleasure to serve and represent this Region. These years
will be forever treasured and cherished. I look forward to seeing you in Charleston,
South Carolina, August 4-7, 2011.

Sensational South Atlantic Region. I am delighted that we will join together once again in my
home state of South Carolina, the very state that we began our first Regional Conference.

August 4-7, 2011 with an agenda under the theme of our 24 National President Soror

e have been busy planning the 25th South Atlantic Regional
Conference to be held at the Charleston Area Convention Center
August 4-7, 2011. After 13 years, we assure you that the hostess
chapters: Charleston Alumnae, North Charleston Alumnae, Lambda Omicron and
Nu Sigma and sorors in South Carolina are eager to open their arms to the chapters
in the South Atlantic Region as we gather to conduct the business of our beloved
Sisterhood. We will be at the perfect time and the perfect place to bring together the
Region as we elect new leadership and new talent to usher in the 100th year of our
Sisterhood.
Charleston is a beautiful and historic city. It is often called “Holy City” because it
has numerous churches. Charleston also offers numerous restaurants and shopping
areas. After you attend plenary sessions and workshops, we hope you will visit some
of the historic sites, do a little shopping and sample some of Charleston's multiple
cuisines. We have planned community projects, other events and activities for you
and your families that will highlight the city's history and culture.

Greetings Sorors!
We are pleased and honored to extend greetings to you and your families as we
convene in beautiful Charleston and North Charleston, South Carolina for the 25th
South Atlantic Regional Conference of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
Charleston and North Charleston Alumnae Chapters, along with your co-host
chapters Nu Sigma (Charleston Southern University) and Lambda Omicron (The
College of Charleston) have planned exciting events to enhance your stay, and to help
put a “southern charm” on the conference. Join us as we sashay to the sounds of
classic jazz at the welcoming activity; tour Charleston's beautiful historic buildings
and feel the warmth of the “City By The Sea” as you walk “The Battery”, shop at
“The Market” and visit numerous plantations where our ancestors labored daily in
their struggle to survive. You are encouraged to participate in community service
projects that are dedicated to promote service and sisterhood. As you end your day,
be sure to greet a sister and enjoy true fellowship at “Club Delta”.
Although we gather in a place filled with rich history and many shops to browse and
spend, we want to be among the first to encourage you to attend the plenary sessions,
the workshops and other planned programs of the conference, so that we may truly
conduct the business of Delta!

Greetings Sorors of the Sensational South Atlantic Region,
On behalf of the members of Charleston Alumnae, North Charleston Alumnae,
Lambda Omicron (The College of Charleston), and Nu Sigma (Charleston Southern
University), we say, “Welcome to the Lowcountry.”
We have been making preparation for your visit and anxiously waiting your arrival in
Charleston. We hope that you will take in some of the beautiful, historical sights as
well as enjoy the fine restaurants and cuisines that our city has to offer.
In addition, we would like to extend a special “Lowcountry Welcome” to the
National and Regional officers who will join us for this conference, and also other
special guests and friends. Your presence makes this event an extraordinary affair, and

STEP SHOW
REGISTRATION
Dear Sensational Sorors,
The South Atlantic Region of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., cordially invites you to participate in the 25th South
Atlantic Regional Conference Step Show. It will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., at the
Embassy Suites Convention Center. The step show is a competition open to all chapters in the South Atlantic Region.
We hope to see sisterly competition between our collegiate and alumnae chapters. Please incorporate your interpretation
of the theme into all step show performances in some creative way. At the conclusion of the step show, the three
chapters that creatively express their best interpretation of this theme will win a cash prize (TBA at a later date). Teams
will be judged by a panel of judges comprised of individuals from organizations in the National Pan-Hellenic Council.
All Step Show Participants must be financially active and in good standing with the Sorority. The chapters of
participating teams must be in compliance and in good standing with the Sorority.
Also, chapters are invited to participate in a stroll-off competition during the step show. Chapters can individually
participate or as a collective team of local chapters. The stroll should be no longer than 3 minutes; however, keep in
mind this stroll could be used for the entire region.
Step teams are limited to 10 minutes to complete their performances. Two points will be deducted for each minute a
group exceeds the time limit. Step teams must refrain from any use of profane language or sexually explicit material
during their performances. Also, teams are not to wear any combat/masculine boots, do any masculine acts particularly
associated with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and are not to use the unofficial call (OO-OOP) in the step show. Any
team failing to adhere to this requirement will be immediately disqualified from the competition. Additionally, all stage
props must be approved by the Collegiate Day Committee at least two weeks prior to the step show.
Some of the categories in which each step performance will be judged include, but are not limited to, the following:
introduction, enthusiasm, creativity, theme interpretation, complexity, synchronization, showmanship, uniforms and/or
costumes, audience reaction, exit, and overall appeal and presentation.
Attached is a registration form for chapters desiring to participate in the step show and/or stroll competition.
** Submit registration form along with a non-refundable $45 registration fee (money order or certified check - Please
write STEP SHOW in the memo line) to the Charleston Alumnae Chapter, Attention Collegiate Day Committee, Post
Office Box 20672, Charleston, SC 29413, no later than July 8, 2011.
** Every participant of the team must be registered for the Conference or the team must submit a $200 entry fee for
liability reasons.
** Chapters must also submit a DVD (no video tapes, please) of the show and/or stroll they desire to perform at
Regional Conference along with duplicate copy of registration form to Regional Representative, Amanda Wise, RE:

Groups will be notified of the selection to participate in the show ASAP. DVDs will not be returned.

RULES & REGULATIONS
 Collegiate teams may collaborate with other collegiate or alumnae step teams if necessary.
 Performances, themes, props, and costumes/outfits must be of good taste and decency, and reflective of Delta Sigma
Theta Sorority, Inc.
 All special effects equipment and/or props must be pre-approved.
 Elements of your show should not be disrespectful to other organizations.
 The performance time limit is 13 minutes. Teams who exceed the time limit will be assessed a point penalty.
 Time starts immediately after the host announces your team. You will have 3 minutes to set up prior to your performance.
 Music lyrics should not contain profanity or any other explicit material and must be submitted for approval.
 COMPACT DISCS are the only media we will play.
 All members of the team must be present at a mandatory meeting at Regional Conference, TBA.
 A step show tech rehearsal for stage spacing, lighting, and sound check purposes will be Scheduled. More information will
be forthcoming.
 Only two prop people are allowed per team.
 All team members must be back stage at the start of the performance prior to their performance. Failure to be ready at
your designated start time will lead to disqualification.
 Each step team is responsible for cleaning up the dressing room/area after using it. Failure to comply with this rule will lead
to disqualification.
 The judges' scores will not be available for review after the performance.
STEPPING CRITERIA
Incorporation of Theme:
(10 points)
The incorporation of a theme throughout the performance.
Creativity:
(20 points)
Performing new and innovative steps and utilizing a creative
introduction and exit.
Uniformity:
(15 points)
Coordinated uniforms.
Execution:
(25 points)
Carrying out precise rhythmic syncopation of beats.
Crowd Enthusiasm:
(10 points)
Crowd reaction to a positive performance.
Showmanship:
(20 points)
Overall manner of presenting routine to the audience.
Multiple Point Deduction: Deductions in increments of 5
points are possible in the following 3 areas:
 Use of obscene gestures or language.
 Ridicule of other organizations.
 Exceeding the 10-minute time limit.
Total possible points for deduction equals 15.
Use of non-allowed or unauthorized props and music
can lead to automatic disqualification.
The total points distributed equals 100 points.
Points are distributed and deducted at each judge's
discretion.

There will only be one category of competition:
