Takeoff was accomplished wit hout incident and in proper order.

. Due to the excellent takeoff, the squadron leader followed close
behind •• the assembly . .oa; positioning themselTes on the Group leader
immediately upon arriving in the assembly area, thereby enabling the
squadrons to be f ormed swiftly. '!'he assembly was performed in a minimum
amount of time and exceptionally well, the whole group being assembled
in very good formation fifteen minutes prior to departure from Cotteamore.

ight to target was without incident--an excellent formation being
i ntai ned throughout. The squadron leaders did a superior job of formation
flying and the formation within the sq11adrons was excellent. We went oft
cours e twice followi ng the Division leader. Interval was taken at the
last turn to the IP for b ornbi ng b y squadrons.

Thirty minutes prior to reaching t h e IP the Air Co
nder received
a call from Buckeye that bombing would be H2X. Due to ihe 94th "A" Group
turni ng nort of th IP it forced our Group l~ miles north of the IP·
Squadrons uncovered for individual bomb runs at the IP. The bomb run was
uneventful and in all cases the rate checks between mickey and the bomb .. .
ardier were good.. All runs were
de using the C•l and bombs were sal Toed
on min. setting with the leads aalvoing. Results were unOb erved. but
believed to be good.

Target&
e made a diving turn to the right off the target and made a rapid
rally of the group formation this being ccomplished on the first turn
after the target. Letdown ~s made over the North sea on return trip.
The f light back wa.a without incident.

Return to Base:
The superior f ormation. typical of the fli ht to the target was
maintai ned on the return t r ip to base. All ships landed safely at
home base.

Weather was described s clear to 11~ E. then becoming lo)lo•s

10/lO's covered. About the same on return.
