Features hinged lids on vessel and pouring spout. 9” tall. I n September of 1648 the Dutch East India ship, the Utrecht, was sunk during an engagement with the Portuguese ship, Nossa Senhora Do Rosario, off the coast of Brazil. The Utrecht and another Dutch ship, the Huys Nassau, attacked the Rosario in an attempt to board and capture it. The captain of the Rosario, following orders not to allow his vessel to fall into enemy hands, blew up his ship. The explosion also sank the Utrecht and damaged the Nassau.
