Shelf Life Daytime Tri-Cities-Ann Carter! July 6, 2015 (www.wjhl.com) For years Ann Carter has been a popular and acclaimed broadcaster with a reputation for integrity and community service that has endeared her to local viewers. She is also an avid reader and was kind enough to share some of her favorite books with us. 1|P a “I’m lucky enough to have two friends who’ve authored books. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading my great friend, Gina DeLapa’s book: “Stuff You Already Know And Everyone Should.” Gina’s a brilliant writer. She’s funny, smart, and insightful. This is one of those books that adds value to your life… it has a lot of sage advice and life stories we can all learn from… without being remotely preachy or stuffy. You will laugh out loud. My other friend, Rebecca Pepin, has another fantastic book called “Faces Of Freedom: Profiles Of America’s Fallen Heroes… Iraq And Afghanistan.” In her book, Rebecca, and a series of contributing writers, tell the stories of fallen heroes who’ve lost their lives in Iraq or Afghanistan. It profiles one service member from each of the 50 states, DC, and Puerto Rico. Have a tissue on hand for this one… and be prepared for an overwhelming sense of pride. Other books I love: “The Bible” “The Chosen” by Chaim Potok Most anything C.S. Lewis has ever written (excluding the Narnia series.. I’m not a big fan of fantasy/whimsical stuff). I have quite a few art books, and have collected various children’s books from around the world. I’m a sucker for a great moral and a sweet innocence. Oh, and “The Dangerous Book For Boys” by Conn Iggulden and Hal Iggulden. It covers all kinds of “essential” skills every boy should know.. full of fun facts and interesting projects. Not recommended for the parent who wraps their son in bubble wrap and doesn’t want him to explore. Ann Carter.” ( Ann most recently hosted WJHL’s “Daytime Tricities” during Amy Lynn’s maternity leave. For years she was a beloved anchor on WCYB.) 2|P a Those Sssscaly, Ssssensations!
