Aaren Scientific Inc., (“Aaren”) an Ontario, California based
company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets
intraocular lenses, has announced the lease and expansion of
its new corporate offices. The new facility will integrate for the
first time, Aaren’s R&D team from Irvine, CA with the manufacturing and administrative offices in one central location.
Aaren Scientific designs and manufactures a full line of high
quality intraocular lenses and ophthalmic surgical products for
cataract and refractive surgery. Founded in 1990, the company
was an early innovator in the use of computer-controlled manufacturing and was the first U.S. IOL manufacturer to be awarded CE registration. More information is available at

The new facility will bring an additional 20,000 square feet,
bringing Aaren’s total footprint to 68,000 square feet. From
a production standpoint, capacity will be increased by 100%.
“In order to meet current and future demands for our various
product lines of IOLs, the Company recognized the need for
additional space. We are committed to our customers, and
their growing demand for Aaren’s products,” said President and
CEO, Rick Aguilera.
The new Ontario facility will allow Aaren to expand packaging, shipping, marketing and the executive offices in Southern
California. Tenant improvements for manufacturing and a class
10,000 clean room will be complete by Q4 2013.

California Governor Jerry Brown has
signed legislation that is designed to
spur economic development in the
state, particularly in the manufacturing
sector. While signing, he might have
also looked to the Inland Empire for a
growing California company that is quietly building a significant manufacturing
presence here in California in the field of
ophthalmology.
“California is obviously a great place to
live and work and these,” said one of
the founders of the company, CEO Rick
Aguilera. “These tax incentives should
help create a better climate for manufacturing in California.”
“We employ over 180 people in manufacturing alone and have many products
in development …as these come to
market we expect to see manufacturing jobs increase and those jobs will be
here in California.”

products in California, while larger ophthalmic device companies like Bausch +

Aaren Scientific was founded in the
state over twenty years ago and develops and manufactures intraocular
lenses (IOLs) and ophthalmic surgical
equipment. IOLs are used to replace
cataracts---there are around 3 million
cataract surgeries in the U.S. alone.

will often build their products elsewhere.
