Conference (AETC) enters its
fifteenth year. AETC 2010
promises to be another exciting
conference with concurrent

challenges facing the educator
in the area of instruction and
integrating technology into the
classroom.

sessions, Alabama’s classroom
teachers will demonstrate
tested solutions. Nationally
known featured speaker Leslie
Fisher will join us again this

are back and will be held at
the Convention Complex.

PARKING: Parking is available at several surrounding lots and decks. Please see map below for
individual deck fees. Self parking is available in the BJCC Parking Deck located on the corner of
9th Avenue North and 22nd Street at a cost of $12 per vehicle, per day with in and out privileges
(this is for guests who apply parking charges to their sleeping rooms at the front desk).
Valet parking is also available at a rate of $20 per vehicle, per day. Prices are subject to change
without notice.

How to Register for AETC 2010:
1. Register ONLINE at http://ti.alsde.edu/aetc/ or download a registration form to mail or fax
with your payment. Use one form for each registration.
2. Early Registration Deadline: To receive the $60 conference rate, registration must be
received by May 17. Late registration is available through May 28 at the on-site rate of $75.
3. Conference fee includes:

4. Payment Options:

Purchase Order: Multiple registrations may be included on one purchase order but a

7. Confirmation and a receipt for your registration will be sent via email within two weeks of

8. Hands On Workshops (HOW): Fees are $10 for each BYOL one-and-a-half hour workshop,
$20 for each three-hour workshop and $40 for each six-hour workshop. Please use the letter
code/class number found on the Web site when registering for these classes. You may preregister for a maximum of two workshops. If there are still classes open at the time of the
conference, you may check Workshop Registration to buy tickets for remaining seats.
NOTE: Workshop tickets from an earlier workshop that you do not attend cannot be traded
for a future class; however if you are unable to attend a workshop you may give the ticket to
another attendee. Call 866-678-AETC (2382) if you have questions.
9. Hotel Reservations: Please make your hotel reservations directly with the hotel using the
phone numbers listed. To obtain conference rates you must tell them you are attending AETC
when making your reservation.
10. Cancellations/Refunds: All cancellation requests will be subject to a $10 administrative fee
and must be received in writing no later than May 17. Requests may be emailed to
martha@mcraemeetings.com or mailed to the address above. No refunds will be given after
May 17, even if all hands-on workshops are full.
AETC is a professional development opportunity for
educators. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed
to attend conference sessions or enter the Exhibit Hall.

All workshops are presented in a hands-on format to provide an optimal learning experience.

Have you been dabbling with your digital camera and getting frustrated with blurry, boring pictures? If so,
this class is for you! Pack your camera, an extra battery, battery charger, manual, card reader or download

You’ve heard of GPS and may even own one or have some in a kit at your school. Now learn how to use
GPS receivers as instructional tools. This is a fun and informative workshop involving the international
phenomenon of Geocaching. Teachers from all subject areas will be introduced to the concept of
Geocaching and the use of GPS receivers in the curriculum through participation in a high-tech scavenger
hunt. Information, resources, and templates for using this emerging technology will also be provided to
participants. As part of this workshop will be conducted outside and will require a fair amount of walking,
participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and shoes.

Textbooks have become obsolete in my classroom. The limited, unresponsive nature of textbooks does not
adequately provide for the needs of our digital age students. Mobile learning devices, such as the iPod
Touch, have replaced traditional content resources and provide my students with engaging, up-to-date,
and student-generated sources of information. The iPod touch has a huge amount of potential in the
classroom to revolutionize the way students learn and teachers teach. Come to this workshop and learn
how to use the iPods with flashcards, lesson planning, science, math, reading and so much more!
Absolutely no experience with iPods is necessary to attend and learn how you can create a “Pocket full of
learning” in you classrooms too! Participants will be provided with a website with all presentation
materials. The presenter will have iPods available for use during the session.
