Leslies Thoughts ~
Can it really be almost fall already? Of course here in “Sun” Diego”
I’m not sure if we ever have fall, I think we go straight from Summer to
Winter. Fall to me is a time of rest and yet preparation at the same time. That
Christmas list is already running through my head, and I’m sure other’s as well.
I brought my mother back from Florida in mid-August, it just wasn’t the place for
her and she wanted to come home, which is my house, so September will be a time
of sitting on the porch in the warm breeze, listening to the birds, traffic, gardeners
and lots of storytelling. I hope you have a wonderful September…
and don’t forget to share those stories!

Memory Café
Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday
10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Activity Room 1
Memory Café is a wonderful place to enjoy the company of new friends and share stories and information about Memory Loss experiences, all in a friendly relaxed setting. Facilitators Marshall, John
and Barry are so friendly and a joy to be around...stop by to say hi!!
Light refreshments served! We look forward to seeing you!
Neurobic of the day: Improve Your Memory By Shifting Your Tooth-Brushing Hand
Feel like your memory could use some boosting? Try brushing your
teeth with your non-dominant hand.
That may seem like a minor change to make, but a study by Case
Western Reserve University suggests that making small alterations
to your habits like this can increase your memory and mental
flexibility and stamina for sticking to tasks. (And even if it doesn’t
seem to help, the change in approach might also help you reach
parts of your mouth that are otherwise ignored.)
The point is that doing new stuff – or old stuff in new ways – is alleged to forge new synaptic
connections, making you smarter.
“Why is it that our memory is good enough to
retain the least triviality that happens to us, and yet
not good enough to recollect how often we have told it
to the same person?”
-Francois de La Rochefoucauld

Gifts are often given to the PSC in memory of one
who has passed away or in honor of a friend at
the time of a birthday, special occasion or just to
say "Thank You.” Other gifts may purposefully
benefit the program of the donor’s choice.
We are grateful for the financial support of these
friends and wish to publicly acknowledge them
for their gifts. We also wish to thank those donors
who want to remain anonymous.
