Of course here in “Sun” Diego” I’m not sure if we ever have fall, I think we go straight from Summer to Winter. Fall to me is a time of rest and yet preparation at the same time. That Christmas list is already running through my head, and I’m sure other’s as well. I brought my mother back from Florida in mid-August, it just wasn’t the place for her and she wanted to come home, which is my house, so September will be a time of sitting on the porch in the warm breeze, listening to the birds, traffic, gardeners and lots of storytelling. I hope you have a wonderful September… and don’t forget to share those stories! ~ Leslie FOR YOUR INFORMATION Defensive Driving (2 - Day Course) Wednesday - September 9 & 16, 2015 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Bill Bond Rooms 2 & 3 A comprehensive, innovative, classroom, driver training program designed specifically to help mature drivers refresh and improve their driving skills. Neurobic of the day: Improve Your Memory By Shifting Your Tooth-Brushing Hand Feel like your memory could use some boosting? Try brushing your teeth with your non-dominant hand. That may seem like a minor change to make, but a study by Case Western Reserve University suggests that making small alterations to your habits like this can increase your memory and mental flexibility and stamina for sticking to tasks. (And even if it doesn’t seem to help, the change in approach might also help you reach parts of your mouth that are otherwise ignored.) The point is that doing new stuff – or old stuff in new ways – is alleged to forge new synaptic connections, making you smarter. “Why is it that our memory is good enough to retain the least triviality that happens to us, and yet not good enough to recollect how often we have told it to the same person?” -Francois de La Rochefoucauld PSC ACTIVITY SCHEDULE MONDAY MAH JONG 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Activity Room 2 Taye Hashiguchi 858-484-3792 Alice Johnson 858-487-9495 AIS FEELING FIT EXERCISE * 10 a.m.- 11 a.m. Bill Bond Room 1 Terri Brownlee 858-382-3799 PACE TV (3rd Monday) 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Bill Bond Room 3 Esther Bloom Mike Goupill 858-538-6197 POKER GAMES 12 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Bill Bond Room 1 SD KNITTING GUILD Meets on the 4th Monday 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Bill Bond Room 1 Maggie Whitson - 619-596-0788 sandiegoknittingguild.com NEEDLE CRAFTERS 12:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. Activity Room 1 Lori Clenney 858-449-4124 TUESDAY THERAPEUTIC YOGA 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Activity Room 1 Lousie Butler 415-299-0522 HICAP (1st Tuesday) 9 a.m. - 11 a.m Jerry - 1-800-434-0222 STEPPING OUT GROUP FOR SINGLES (1st & 3rd Tuesday) 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Activity Rooms 1 & 2 Walk-ins Welcome!!
