Mission Statement
Raptor House Rehabilitation Centers mission is to preserve the earth’s biological diversity and to secure the future of
bird species in their natural environments. We work to fulfill that mission through education and raptor rehabilitation.
Rehabilitation
Injured, sick, and orphaned birds of prey are brought to the center for medical attention. The birds receive care from local
veterinarians who donate their services and medication to the raptors and the Raptor House Rehabilitation Center. The
birds are then put in designated flight pens for it’s species for exercise and recuperation. Once ready for release, they are
released in the same location found or a designated location from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
About Us
Raptor House Rehabilitation Center was established in 1998 by Marsha Dalan. To this day Raptor House is still ran by
Shannon & Marsha Dalan. Raptor House has continually grown with the help of public and private donations. Learn
more about Raptor House in Contact Us.
History and Philosophy
The Raptor House Rehabilitation Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the care of injured, sick, and
orphaned birds of prey and their eventual release back into the wild. Established in 1998, the center started as a one person
operation, located in rural Toppenish, Washington, with a handful of patients from the local towns.
Within eight years it became necessary to secure a more spacious and appropriate location. Raptor House is approximately
5.78 acres of land with various building, and a pond in rural East Selah Rd, in Yakima, Washington. Giving migratory bird
species a second chance. The small pond and island serves as a place for injured ducks, swans, and shore birds.
The Raptor House Rehabilitation Center is run solely on public donations and volunteers, contrary to popular belief,
there is no state or federal funding for wildlife rehabilitation. We have a small base of regular donors. Most of these
people have had the opportunity to bring in an injured, sick or orphaned raptors to the center. With the current
economic climate, monthly donations have dropped since August 2006. We absolutely must increase our donations in
order to accept every injured, sick or orphaned raptor brought to our doorstep. Will you help?

The 10 mile scenic rafting trip has a few good summertime
river rapids and will be the activity highlight of your
Suncadia visit. The trip takes about three to four hours and
can be scheduled any day of the week at any time. River
rafting is a great activity for families and groups. Trips
include an amazing, streamside BBQ sockeye salmon lunch
complete with appetizers, desert, and Washington wine.
Consider a morning trip and have our omelet bar breakfast
on the river or raft a little later in the day and have dinner.

meals. All transportation from Suncadia is included. Please
contact the concierge or front desk to arrange a Gourmet
Lunch River Rafting Trip.

Kids Fly Fishing Class
Birding Tour - Saturday Morning
The Kids Fly Fishing Class is an introduction to the
sport of fishing that is both hands on and educational,
guaranteed to be fun. The kids can investigate trout
biology, habitat and behavior as they are introduced to
ichthyology (the study of fish). Don’t forget the bugs.
We’ll explore the aquatic insects (entomology) that trout
in lakes and rivers eat. The kids will have their fishing
skills and knowledge tested in trying to catch a few of the
rainbow trout in the pond with the assistance of the class
instructors.
Strap on a pair of binoculars and walking shoes to hit
the trail in search of local and migratory birds of the
West. The diverse eco-system of the Suncadia property
is part of the Pacific fly-way for of many migratory birds
and is a great place to view unique bird species. The
Saturday Morning Birding Tour departs the Suncadia
Lodge at 8 AM for an approximate two hour program
on the identification of migratory and resident birds.
The cost is $40 per person and limited to groups of six.
Includes binocular use. Please register with the front
desk in advance.
The Kids Fishing Program is held every Saturday morning
from 11 AM to 11:30 AM at the Swim and Fitness Center
pond. The cost is $40. Registration is encouraged by
contacting the front desk. Minimum age is 7 years old.
Experience Fly Fishing (adult class)
If you ever thought “that would be fun to do”, here’s
your chance. Come to the pond at the Swim and Fitness
Center on Saturdays between 11:45 PM and 12:15 PM for
a Fly Fishing Experience. Study the art of casting under
the guidance of our expert fly casting instructor and get
introduced to the sport of fly fishing.
The introduction experience is offered for $40 a person
and is limited to 10 participants. No registration is
necessary but encouraged by contacting the front desk.
The experience includes the fly fishing equipment.
The Saturday Morning Fly Tier
Join us about 9:30 AM on Saturday morning for a casual
introduction to fly tying. Learn the basics of fly tying
while putting together a few of the favorite flies for the
local streams and lakes.
It’s free and located in the
Great Room of The Lodge at Suncadia.

Wilderness Navigation
You’re in unfamiliar woods with only your trusty compass
and a topographical map. You need to find a route back
to civilization. It’s a good thing you took the “Wilderness
Navigation” course on your last vacation to Suncadia so
you can confidently determine direction, set a bearing
and return to the comforts of home.
The two hour outdoor course will provide participants
with the basic skills of reading a topographical map, using
a compass to determine direction, and establish a bearing
towards a destination. The course is conducted on the
Suncadia property and requires walking a short distance.
The activity includes the use of a compass for each person
and a navigation guide to keep. The quality experience
has a ratio of one instructor for every six participants. The
cost is $40 per person. It’s a great activity for families,
groups and individuals.
Cancellation Policy
In the event of a guest cancelling a reservation for a
guided fly fishing or rafting trip, a twenty-four hour
notice is necessary. If less than a twenty-four hour notice
is given, a $100 cancellation fee will be charged per
assigned guide. In the event of Troutwater Guide Service
cancelling a reservation due to unsafe conditions or poor
weather, no cancellation fee will be occurred.
In the event of a guest cancelling a reservation for a class,
Birding Tour, or Wilderness Navigation course, a twentyfour hour advance notice is required. If less than a twentyfour hour notice is given or if the guest fails to attend a
registered activity, fifty percent of the total fee per person
will be charged. In the event of Troutwater Guide Service
cancelling a reservation due to unsafe conditions or poor
weather, no cancellation fee will be occurred.
Dressing for Water Activities
Paddling Sports
On the rafting trips, you have the option of getting wet
or staying dry. Let your guide know your preferences,
but at a minimum, you are likely to get your feet wet from
getting in and out of the rafts. Assume you will get wet
on the river kayaking trips.
Adequate clothing would include:
• Sandals with an ankle strap, sneakers or other shoes you
don’t mind getting wet • Shorts, Capri pants or quick
dry pants • A light jacket • Hat and Sunglasses
Each raft will have sunscreen, tissue and a dry bag for
your valuables.
Fly Fishing Guided Drift Boat and
Walk and Wade Trips
When the weather is cool, fly fishers typically will wear
waders and boots to stay dry and warm. Clothing in cool
weather includes:
• Warm pair of socks • Fleece pants, sweet pants or other
pants with insulating properties • A long sleeve shirt • A light
jacket and/or rain jacket • Hat and Polarized sunglasses
In the summer, with the warm weather, there is no
need for waders and boots to stay dry. In fact, it’s very
enjoyable to get in the water. Summer time clothing is
simple and includes:
• Sandals with an ankle strap, sneakers or other shoes
you don’t mind getting wet • Shorts, Capri pants or
quick dry pants • T-shirt, or long sleeve shirt (depending
on your preference for sun exposure) • A light jacket
• Hat and Polarized sunglasses
All the drifts boats have lots of dry storage room, so it’s
okay to bring extra clothing, cameras, etc.

appeal for many weekenders here. The Prospector’s
Reach Collection of homes enjoy both privacy and
the convenience of being near the community parks;
indoor/outdoor pools and work-out equipment at the
Suncadia Club Swim & Fitness Center; warm-season

and bicycling trails.
The Prospector’s Reach Collection
Suncadia is highlighting a trio of distinguished builders
offering luxury homes known as The Prospector’s Reach
Collection: Element Residential; Bella Villa Resort
Homes; and Craig Reimer Custom Homes.

may start with designs by Element Residential. With
three-bedroom designs that highlight master suites on
the main floor, two-vehicle garages ideal for recreational
equipment, and spacious covered patios, Element
Residential showcases plans that include open lofts and
main-level dens. Masterful masonry and timber surrounds
the fireplace and mantel in these homes.
While touring Bella Villa Homes, homebuyers enjoy the
confidence behind a Washington state builder whose
experience spans several central Oregon mountain and
high-desert resort communities. Authentic trim work
accents wide-plank flooring, while wrought-iron light
fixtures complement high-end stainless appliances.
Entertainment lofts, built-in bunkrooms and meticulous tile
work are part of the signature selection from Bella Vista.
Cozy reading nooks, entertainment-ready kitchens
with generous cabinetry, and hallways that offer
virtual floor-to-ceiling paned-glass windows capture
the essence behind homes at Prospector’s Reach by
