This is the 30th year of a great free outdoor
music festival in the Tezukayama neighborhood
of Osaka, with 3 stages and flea market booths
in Bandai-ike park on both days.

Tenma Grand Sake Ceremony
The "Osaka Local Breweries" gather in Tenma!
Tasting of refined local sake, crafted by 14
different sake breweries of Osaka. During the
Edo era, Osaka's liquors had a reputation of
being the world's best. There will be a beacon
(Noroshi) "Osaka Liquor Revival" placed in the
park that overlooks the Osaka Castle.

Manbu Oneri Ritual
An event to offer thanksgiving sutra for
A ritual to recreate the world of
paradise in Sukhavati-vyuha Sutra, a
tradition from the Nanbokucho era.
Monks dressed as bodhisattvas in
beautiful glittering costume and gold
masks cross Raigo bridge with the
parishioners and recite the Sutra 10,000 times. Designated as
an intangible folklore cultural asset by Osaka city in 2002. everything, both related and unrelated. The
approach for the temple from the station is
lined with appr ox. 300 street stalls,
bustling with throngs of people. Starting with "Jazz in the temple" at opening
ceremony, various events are held such as Traditional dance, Rakugo(a comic

Makura (Pillow) Festival
Hine Shrine
is unique as
it is for the
pillo w and
bedroom.
People who
has problem with
them sleep,
they come here to pray for good sleep.
A rare festival of parading with about 25
pillows on a 5m long green bamboo carried on
the shoulder. It originated when villagers
offered rice bags tied on green bamboo sticks
to soldiers going to battle.

A ceremony to commemorate the founding of Sumiyoshitaisha Grand Shrine. An
offering of sacred unoha deutzia and a
ceremonial rite will be followed by a
performance of bugaku dance on the
ishibutai(stone stage).

It is believed
t ha t i f y ou
receive
Chimaki, clay
wrapped in
wild rice leaf,
then it will
expel evil
spirits from
the wrong direction when you move or travel. On
the day of the ritual, offer Chimaki in the shrine,
play Yukagura music and pray for good health and
after that "Sand carrying ritual" for children to
carry cleansed sand on a carrying pole will be held.
